Shoes suggestions please?!

I really struggle with shoes and theme parks - especially if we're doing long days - I've survived a day with my mum and dad in birkenstocks (just) but the same shoes rubbed my feet raw on a long walk around Toronto so I've been scared of them ever since!

I bought fit flops last autumn with the hope of wearing them in - but they make me feel sea sick (not a good sign for my cruise!)

I've always managed in trainers - always wear Adidas Superstars - but last Easter we walked so much I ended up with blisters on the soles of my feet

I grabbed a pair of crocs in TKMaxx on Saturday as they were disney ones and only £12 but I'm worried even they will rub

Really run out of ideas now ... and we leave in less than 2 weeks :(

I've tried crocs and birkenstocks and they've both been a nightmare for me! Eventhough they were well worn in all summer my crocs rubbed underneath and gave me terrible blisters on the soles of my feet. The Birkenstocks also rubbed terribly :headache:
I'm really at a loss what to try for our October trip, I'm thinking maybe fur lined crocs (but worried about the heat) or some well worn pumps...I really dont know :sad1:

ooh now that's putting me off crocs too ... I wish I didn't have feet that rub!!

I set off today on the hunt for something comfortable to wear at the parks. I didn't have much luck but its only my first day of looking. I thought I would try and get over my hatred of crocs and tried on the flip flops, my hatred for them are still there, they are hideous. I know I should go for comfort and not looks but vanity is a awful thing :rotfl:

Wow thanks peeps - I'm so glad I'm not alone with the shoe saga- off to Trafford Centre on Sunday to take a look what they have - more and more I hear that Crocs are the way forward so I'll have a little walk around in some I think to see what they are like.

My real issue is that I don't just want a pair that will do the parks I want them to last all summer - so I'll try the birkenstocks too!

Thanks for all your helpful tips I love this site! Only 6 weeks till we go and really have got so much more than shoes to sort out!! I think I'm a bit in 'are we really going in 6 weeks mode!'

Thanks again xx

Last time I wore my Adidas running shoes either them or my Crocs.
This time i'm still going for Adidas but instead of Crocs I quite fancy a pair of Skechers, I've seen quite a few pairs I like from the biker range!

Last year I wore a pair of Reebok trainers I got from Next - they are very light, and the whole of the front is like netting, so very cool. Wore them with small trainer socks, and my feet were the comfiest and coolest they've been in 4 visits to WDW! Legs weren't as tired either. Will be doing the same again next time.

Took my crocs (which I wear round the house ALL the time) for the water parks, but getting sand in them rubbed my feet a bit :-( Not overly bad though, they still worked a treat in the water.

Wore my little sketchers sandals at DTD without socks once and ended up with sore feet and smelly sketchers! Even though I wore them all summer at home, that was with socks or knee-highs...

My vote goes to proper trainers and small trainer socks!! :thumbsup2

Crocs for us. I took 3 pairs white navy and pale pink. One pair were the mary-jane type and all really comfortable.Had to wear little trainer socks though when at the parks.I always buy original crocs not copies though. DD likes her trainers so always get a new pair 2 months before to break in.Uses her crocs for the water parks and pool area.:thumbsup2

Another vote for crocs! :thumbsup2 I wear Crocs for the majority of our trips and I have never had a problem with any rubbing or blisters. I also wear them for work. I'm on my feet 9-10 hours a day and the comfort is amazing!

I always have sore feet at WDW! (For that matter other travel times too that include lots of walking). In 2009 I took no less then FIVE pair of shoes, anticipating the pain! :-( And do you know what, I wore my crocs every single day! I finally decided that even if they are totaly unattractive - the pain wasn't worth it! I wear heels and cute shoes all the time at home, but sore feet equal grumpy wife and mom....so I gave in and just wore them! It seemed that more people were wearing them and really, when it's crowded, whose looking at your shoes!

ha!

My mom always said, when you smile, nobody will see your feet! ;-)

Well I have just ordered some crocs tone up flip flops, some sketchers tone flip flops and some next own Brand tone flopsnto try on. I always wear trainers in Disney but we have never been when it's as hot as it is as the moment, we went to Lego and on saturdayand omg the heat made my feet so hot and sore so I am stuck, we go a week today so I am going to have to try and find something more open before we go, I have a pair of Mary Jane crocs but they haven't ever been worn so I am going to go for a walk in them today as I recon they we be my best bet as I never wear flip flops always trainers so wonder how I will cope in them but thought I would get them ordered as I am running out of time eeekkkk!!!!!!!

Birkenstocks don't work if you have long toes lol. I vote for fitflops. They are so comfy

I love my crocs but if I am pushing the stroller it builds static charge and everytime you touch something/someone you get an electric shock :scared1:

So I stick to trainers - worn in and then just wear my crocs occasionally to give my feet a break.

I wore the tesco version of the shape ups last year and they were ok comfort wise but walking up and down stairs and on uneven ground was tough. They are the ones with the weird shape sole so you kind of rock in them.

I also had a pair of old sketchers and those were great.

This year I'm going to take the trusty old sketchers and my Reebok easytone's that are so comfortable, and they don't have the weird sole like my shape ups.

I'm definitley a Birkinstock Gizeh (toe post) girl but my Ecco sandals are also incredibly comfortable but I don't think they'll do another trip to the parks.

I'm going to get a new pair of Birkinstocks and am also tempted to try Fitflops. Crocs just don't do it for me, I've tried some on but find them too wide.

I also had some Skecher trainers which were comfortable (and did a trip to WDW) but they've long since hit the bin.

At home I love wearing my birkenstocks, I have 3 pairs, but I don't find them very comfortable in the parks - too flat for me.
In the parks I wear either trainers or croc flip flops. The crocs are an old style that had a soft top that I don't think are available any more. I have 2 pairs bought in the orlando airport croc shop - so comfy!

I was so fed up encasing my feet in trainers I tried some alternatives this time

crocs - I'm afraid they still rub me - long days in the park no good ... but they were great at typhoon lagoon

fitflops - I didn't even take them with me - I discovered that when I take them off I feel really really odd ... seasick odd ... in fact I gave them away to my mum yesterday - I've never worn them out of the house

what saved me ...

these from clarks ... from their 'air' range, so so light and really comfy

they look nice - very nautical! Will have to have a look round Clarks and see if our local one has anything similar to try.

Every time I go, I ALWAYS wear the same flip flops all day in the parks, usually have to have a new pair every year though and usually get a few pairs in different colours but they are from accessorize and are the plain seagrass ones, the ones with designs across the straps rub but the plain ones, like these I find soooo comfortable and light:

http://www.accessorize.com/en/resto.../?bklist=icat,4,shop,beachshop,beachflipflops

And only £8 a pair! I totally love them and wouldnt wear any other footwear in the parks!

this afternoon I went and got myself a pair of Fitflops. Been wearing them around the house and they do feel comfortable. Going to try the walk to school in them tomorrow (if it's not too cold!)
