Shoe policy for babies

For my DD's first tripe she was 15 months and almost never had shoes on, she still wasn't walking so we were always holding her. No one ever said anything about it.

from what I have read and seen while visiting if baby is in arms, carrier or stroller at all times you can get away with no shoes but baby is going to be down crawling or toddling any where in the parks you will need shoes

We took our daughter at 10 months. She wasn't walking yet. Sometimes we had shoes on her but mostly didn't. We didn't have an issue except at the Dino playground at ak. They insisted on shoes before allowing her in even though she was basically just going to watch her sister play. Even so, I get the policy.

In today's society of "sue, sue, sue" for every little thing, I can see why they would insist on shoes in the baby is putting their feet on the ground for any reason.

brought a 3 month old infant 2 years ago and she was barefoot the entire time. we were never told anything about it and she even too pictures with characters and 2 princesses were in love with her and fought about who was going to hold her longer LOL If there was a shoe policy, no one told us

My DD had a very wide fat foot when she was a baby and toddler. She could not wear Stride Rite either. If they found a pair that fit the front of her foot, she walked right out of them because her heel was not as wide as the front of her foot. Pedipeds shoes were about the only things she could fit into. They were fantastic. I would highly recommend them. If there is not a store that carries them in your area, they have a website.

I would assume at 11 months now, there is a good chance they will start walking before your trip and once they start, in my experience, they want down on the ground to do it. I wouldn't put a babies bare feet on the dirty Disney ground, plus if it is a warm day, that pavement could also be hot.

That wide fat foot results in buying expensive shoes for about the first 5 years! Even once DD was past the baby stage, she could only wear shoes that came in a wide, and never Stride Rite, so it was always the high dollar shoes for her, as most cheaper brands do not come in wide, or even in the unlikely event they did, they did not fit right. If it makes you feel better, around age 5 or maybe a little after, her foot slimmed down to where she can wear regular shoes. Since then, if she has seen a pair of shoes at Target she likes, chances are she will fit into them!

I'd recommend Robeez or something like them. Just a simple soft soled shoe with some stretch around the ankle. Great to keep socks on and offer protection from the elements, but not a true walking shoe. My ped said the little ones should only wear shoes outside once they were steady walkers and that bare foot was best for learning...but who knows what they are recommending today.

Shoezoo/Carzoo is a good lower cost answer to Robeez too. My kid has a wide foot and she's hard to fit, but the shoezoo pull ones worked fine for a non-walker.

My kids have regular to narrow feet, but I have a friend who used See Kai Run

I didn't put shoes on my kids until they were walking and/or daycare required it

We brought our (then) 3 month old in April. He doesn't even own any shoes, let alone would he have worn them.

Robeez and Pedipeds are fantastic. You can find them on amazon with free returns, which helps make sure you get the right size.

When I took my 8 month old, she was barefoot the whole time. She was either in a baby carrier or stroller so I never even thought of it.

I agree; my son was 12 months old before he had his sandals. Didn't have anything until he walked. Neither did my DD. It's healthier to not have shoes on their feet until then.
If they were walking on the ground at the parks, then of course I'd have something on their feet. They could step on something. But I don't think it makes sense if they're not walking to care if they are barefoot.

Our first trip was when my son was 14 months. He had VERY bad eczema and sores all over his feet. He would not keep his shoes on when sitting in the stroller. We would put them on him and within minutes he was removing them and throwing them on the ground. (The rubbing would just make the sores worse and we made sure he always had on at least socks.) We were yelled at by several CM's that we had to put his shoes back on him immediately even after we explained he would not be getting out of the stroller (he was even buckled in) Once it happened while standing in line to meet Tiana and Tiana must have seen what was going on because when she finished with a guest she walked over to him and told him it would be her honor to help her prince put back on his shoes. It was the sweetest interaction and made up for the cranky CM.
