Shoe Colour?

Ok, is it ok to wear black dress pants then put on brown dress shoes. If not, I have to go shoe shopping today.

My mom always pounded it into my head that I had to completely match - black pants, black socks, black shoes, black belt. I'm not sure how accurate that is still, but I always do it just to play it safe.

depends on if you are a man or woman.

some men are now wearing dark brown dress shoes with dark suits/pants.

I think if looks odd, but it supposedly is not a fashion faux pas for men.

I agree with the others - I really don't think brown shoes look right with black pants.

Your accessories no longer have to match each other. as in, you can have a brown belt and black shoes.

But as for black pants, wear black shoes. It cuts the line up and looks odd. If you have a bright color like red shoes, they would go because it looks like you are purposely wearing them as an accent or accessory for a pop of color. But the brown is too close to the black in color to look intentional.

What sort of top are you wearing? Do you have brown beads, or wooden jewelry of any sort that will help you carry it off?

True! Do you have a brown belt? Then it would work. (The belt has to show, not be tucked under your shirt.) Even though I said earlier they don't have to match each other. In this case it would work as the brown shoes aren't the only brown. They would look intentionally worn that way.
