Went to Shoe Carnival and it isn't as fun as it used to be. I remember you used to be able to make animal sounds for an additional $5 off your shoes. Yeah, I squealed like a pig...what's it to ya? They had that money machine and you could get in and catch dollar bills and shoe coupons! It was totally cheezy but it was GREAT!

If only we could go back to the days of squealing like a pig for $5 off.... :confused3

The Shoe Carnical we had in IA closed. I really liked that place too. I remember being able to spin a wheel. :)

Yeah, they still have the wheel spin here but nobody was manning it when I was there.

At ours there was a midget (is that politically correct to say?) in a wheelchair that chased you around the aisles yelling at you through a megaphone. It used to scare the heck out of my youngest DD. He used to follow us into the kids section and then yell "security check in kids!!". It really turned us off from shopping there. I felt like a criminal.

I'm not saying he didn't have the right to work there, just that he should have toned it down a bit.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I can see how that would turn you off with kids. But it is still hilarious.

This may very well be the most bizarre thread I've read today!!
I've never heard of a shoe carnival!

MosMom, did I neglect to mention that he was wearing a ringmaster outfit with a top hat while he was yelling at us?

Don't worry, you're not alone

LOL I'm laughing so hard I'm crying :rotfl:  :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Shoe Carnival is a shoe store that uses ridiculous methods to get people to shop there. Apparently, those methods weren't working all that well because several have closed down and have scared some customers away. :p I still think it was fun though!

What the??? I guess that is kind of funny! :rotfl: They just built one here, but it has none of that stuff. Just teens that act like they hate their jobs

We have one nearby. I haven't actually bought anything there in years. The one around here was partially destroyed by a tornado that occurred almost two years ago today (Sept. 20, to be exact). We were actually at WDW when the tornado struck. It was very scary to go back to our room after a day at the park, and to see familiar places on TV that were destroyed by a tornado. It struck within a mile of our house. Of course, the Shoe Carnival was rebuilt, but, many of the businesses never have reopened.

I was in a shoe Carn. way back in coons age and I turned around and walked back out. I didn't like store atmsphere.

Well this store seems like I would hate it however, are there great buys on shoes? If so I would probably dress up like an elephant and jump through hoops.

I had never heard of it before. I take it it is located in the Chicago area?

might be a midwest thing. i've seen in il, oh, mi, in.

We have one, I had to get DD's cleats there she wears a toddlers size 9 and no one else had cleats small enough. Well, the guy in the booth kept singing songs to different girls, over the loud speaker. He really could not carry a tune, I felt really embarassed for him, and the girls that he was singing to.

I went into one ONCE, left, they didn't have any sizes for my kids & they were more expensive than any stores in the mall.

It's only cheaper if you make farm animal noises for a discount. :teeth: :hyper:

We love Shoe Carnival.....the one here has the buy one get one for 1/2 Price sale. They don't act over the top at ours. They still do the spinning of the wheel and the cash machine.

I'm mad though we didn't have the Midget......I would love to see him yell at J.C.

Did I ever mention that J.C. made friends with a Mexican Midget at WDW and the midget taught him how to FALL in front of people and it was hillarious.

Beth, Shoe Carnival has that sale fairly often which is why I subject myself to that torture. They do have a nice variety of brand name shoes, and if you catch that sale, it's a good deal.

They wouldn't let me spin the wheel the last few times though because they said you had to be buying two pairs of shoes at REGULAR price to get any additional discounts.
