Anyone know of a site that lists all the ships currently on order. I use to have the link for one but lost it.
Thanks Guys,
Matt

Hmm...didn't see Disney, DCL, or anything remotely similar. So either a third ship is pulling a WDW (you know when Walt used the dummy company to buy the land in FL) - and I'm NOT trying to start any rumors here - that is for a different board! :p or nothing is yet on order for a third ship.

Last word I heard (which was last May) was that plans for a 3rd ship were done but they were waiting for the Euro vs. Dollar to improve before placing an order with a shipyard. What is listed on that site are actual orders that have been placed.

I don't think Disney would hide the building of a 3rd ship but you never know.

It seems safe to say that Disney has invested in plans, but that Disney has not actually contracted with a shipyard. There are undoubtedly many people in DCL who would love to see DCL go ahead with the construction of two new ships — but until Disney and a shipyard agree on a price that the senior executives in Burbank are willing to pay, the fleet expansion will exist only in the form of the marine architect's drawings.

Over the years, Disney has developed plans for attractions that were never built, invested in movie rights and scripts that were never filmed, and even withdrawn plans for announced projects. It remains to be seen whether the DCL fleet expansion becomes a reality or joins the list of "planned but not carried out" projects. I hope it becomes a reality.

I don't think the company could hide the building of a ship. It's a publicly traded company, and I think it would have to disclose an expenditure of some half-billion dollars to the stockholders.

The place I look to find out which ships are on the horizon, so to speak, is on Cruise News Daily's site:

http://www.cruisenewsdaily.com/newships.html

I've heard the dollar vs. euro angle before, but I wonder about it. What if the dollar rises and is worth, say, 1.10 euro when the building begins. Do they just hand over a check for $500 million and say, "build us a ship"? I would think that anything that costs this much and takes this long to build would be paid in installments, and the value of the dollar vs. the euro could fluctuate greatly over the year and a half it takes to build the ship. What if it falls even lower after they start building? The exchange rate doesn't seem to have had an effect on newbuild orders from other lines.

A new ship would definitely stick out on the annual report! Does anyone know when DCL's fiscal year ends? I believe it would be a footnote to the financials.... I don't think they will be able to hide it (would they even want to?) for very long.;)

I believe that Disney's Annual Stockholders meeting is March 3 in Philly. So their year end must have happened already.

Oh yeah, the rest of you who own Disney stock, be sure to VOTE NO, NO, NO NO!! for the folks who are up for election to the Board of Directors (including Michael E.)
