We are considering shipping our luggage down with all the new airline fees associated with luggage coming out.

Who has done it, did it work well, would you do it again, how did you do it and a rough estimate of cost would really help!

Thanks!

We shipped last year using UPS. 3 boxes and b/c we have an account we just preprint the return labels. It was very easy and they were waiting when we got there. We sent UPS 3-day so they'd be guaranteed for arrival. Cost will depend totally on weight/dimension/service. 3 good size boxes were about $300.

There are luggage forwarding services as well. Do an internet search and you'll find a few. We've used luggage forward and have liked them. Didn't use them to WDW but other locations.

We don't normally check luggage and have been using UPS for quite some time on extended trips. Don't like the hassle, especially with kids.

Best Wishes!

Check into fedex ground. open a free account.

sent a pelican case ahead to myself at the resort, cross country, for about $45.00

took five days (ground)

I would like to hear if anyone else has done this too. I have to go to a conference in Orlando following my week at POR. Completely different clothing. Am concerned about getting everything there and don't need conference clothes for a week.... I have been thinking about shipping. Maybe take everything and ship resort clothes home before I go to the conference? thoughts???

A few notes:

When shipping to your resort - do not use the US Postal Service or any of it's express variants. They don't deliver packages to the resort addresses well. Anything sent via any version of the US Postal Service goes to a central receiving and is then sorted and delivered in its own sweet time -- sometimes adding DAYS to the delivery.

Also keep in mind if you are staying at any of the convention resorts (Boardwalk, YC/BC, CR, etc) there is a charge for the resort to receive a package for you. This will be billed to your room automatically. Be sure to factor that in if you are staying at a resort that typically hosts conventions.

Three HUNDRED dollars? Wouldn't it have been more cost-effective to just pay any airline overweight fees?

Thats why We did it with Fedex ground.

I used the link provided above and got the correct address, then figured the time. It was waiting for us when we got there. I had a large pelican case, but you could get a cheepo trunk, or sturdy shipping box, and do the same. I just weighted it when I shipped, then printed out a return label and took it with me. I made shure that I packed about the same or so, but it dosn't matter, because if you are using your own fedex account, they will just weigh it and adjust the charges to the weight.

If you go ground, across country is about five days or so, but you can estimate from where you are shipping from.

DW and I just take two days of clothing in one suitcase, and ship all the rest, plus sunblock, etc. etc.
