Shipping your clothes to and from using UPS

I posted this in a similar thread and thought it may help here, also. We shipped a package to our resort (Feb 2010) and it worked out great based on info provided by people both on here and the Tour Guide Mike message board. We used FedEx, since our arrival day was Saturday (just in case it did not get to the resort until Saturday). We used the following format for the address:

Name
C/O (Resort Name) Front Desk
Address
City, ST Zip
Hold for (arrival date) (we also put ARRIVAL in parenthesis under the date)
Confirmation Number: (Resort confirmation number)
Our phone number

The package arrived a day or so early, however we were not charged a holding fee. Due to the winter weather, we had to re-schedule our flight and so we did not arrive until Sunday and I simply called ahead to make sure they noted the new arrival day on the package. When we checked in we told them that we had a package (I had called ahead to confirm they had received it) and they brought it out and asked if we wanted it then or if we wanted it stored with our luggage. It was the energy drinks we use (they can only be purchased online) and we definitely needed one at that point (long story of re-scheduling due to weather and waking up at 3 am two consecutive days) so we took the package with us. Hope this helps.

Seems pennywise and pound foolish to me. You might save a few bucks vs. checking an extra bag, but it's a hassle to have to go drop with the shipper, etc. etc.
