I've read on other boards that some have shipped items (like food, diapers, toiletries etc.) to their resort a couple of days before they check in. It sounds like it has been very successful for those who live in the US. Has anyone done this from Canada? I was wondering if it was difficult because of it going over the border? :confused3

There was a great thread about this very recently. Here's the thread link:

I am considering it too, but am unsure if it's a good deal considering we don't have a fridge LOL I guess just shipping non-perishable stuff would still save us enough money to make it worthwhile, hey? :confused3

Thanks for the link, I looked it over and that service is mostly for buying grocery items from what I can see, which looks great by the way. I should have been more specific, I've read about other people shipping items to reduce their luggage that is taken on the plane. Some ship food, others ship clothing, items they know they want but don't necessarily want to add to their luggage count. I even read about someone who ships via UPS ALL of their luggage, she only takes her purse on the plane!

Here's the link for one that I was reading:

You can ship stuff down, mark it as a gift so it sails through customs.
Make sure to put on your package
Resort name
Hold for : (Your name)
Arrival : (Your arrival date)
address..etc...

We are ding this with stuff off the Disney shopping website...so expensive to ship to Canada...we'll order this weekend and it will be waiting for us when we get there!!!

This post covers most of the major ins and outs of what you need to know..

Don't ship it through the Post Office... Here is why... The US Post Office does NOT recognize Disney streets, any and all mail being sent to Disney through the US Post Office will go to the PO Box (regardless of how you address it) as the post office does not deliver to Disney directly. From the PO Box it is sorted into sections and then specific locations before it is delivered out to property. This can take quite a bit of time.

UPs, Fed Ex, DHL, any kind of courier service will deliver directly to the hotel. My suggestion would be to get the package ready and send it out about 7 days prior to your arrival (you can send it further out if you like they will hold it). If you give yourself enough time you can ship it ground service which is the cheapest.

As for who to address it to you would want to address it like this:

The name of the person who is the LEAD name on the reservation (may not be you, but it is easier to find that way)
C/O the hotel you are staying at/ Front Desk
The address of the hotel
And put HOLD for guest check in and the date (you can put the res # too if you want, but it is not really needed).

So it would look something like this

John Smith
C/O Disney's Wilderness Lodge Front Desk
Hold for guest arrival 4/02
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Fl 32830

Here is a list of the resort address' (again this can ONLY be used for courier services, US Post office will not deliver to the property directly)

Lisa, have you looked into the Fridge Swaps on the budget board? They might be just what you need! I had a fridge last year just for the case of water that I took. I bought milk and juice at the food court to add to it, and it was lovely. Just a thought!

Hi Debbie:

Thanks for your post! Yes, I've considered a fridge swap, but (a) I have heard some consistently bad stories about others' experiences; and (b) as we have 5 rooms booked at this point (could end up being more), the group consensus seems to be that we'll add a fridge or two from ASMo, keep it in my MIL's room and just access it when we need to (she hardly sleeps, so no worries about lack of access LOL).

Thanks though :flower3:

I do this everytime - and not just for things that I will use in WDW. We always go at the end of August, (back to school shopping time) and I always do some BTS shopping and send my things to the resort.

I also do an amazon order for water, etc. I'm lucky that for the places that don't accept Canadian credit cards, my GF places the order and I paypal her.

I have NEVER lost a package, or not had a package arrive.

In fact, last time I ordered a double stroller and had it delivered to the resort- paid LESS than it would have cost me to rent it from ABBF - and had arranged on craigslist to sell it for 75% of my cost before I left - they picked it up from the resort and paid in cash.

It cost me a little over 30.00 to have a (new) double stroller for 10 days:banana:

This thread has me checking out a whole bunch of sites that are normally expensive to ship to Canada like VS and The Disney Store. I might just end up spending a good chunk of money before I get to the resort. :rotfl:

If my arrival date is May 2, when is it too early to start ordering things? I mean if I have things arrive 1-2 weeks before May 2, is that too soon?
