Shipping snacks to resort

I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought I would start here. I am staying at BWV in May 2010 and will be on the QSDP so I do not need a lot of food. I'm not sure I will meet the min $$ required for garden grocer. I was thinking I could just ship a small box down with snacks and purchase a couple of cases of water at Hess. Could someone share their experiences of shipping food down to the resort? For example, what you shipped and how much it cost? The other option is to pack a small suitcase since we are travelling SW and will have 4 people paying fares and only two bags. Many thanks!

Some of the convention resorts charge a package handling fee. I know that BWI is one of them, not sure about BWV. You will also pay the shipping cost for the package. Depending on its weight and the handling fee, it might be more affordable to just go with the grocery delivery service - and have them deliver the water, too.

Or you could send the water from Costco (which is still a good deal on a case of water even if they do add on the handling fee) and pick up snacks at the resort/and or bring them in your suit case.

We were on the QSDP in June. We received 4 snacks a day, and didn't use them all until we were leaving (had 13 left that we picked up treats with) so you may be fine without purchasing snacks in advance.

I was wondering on that myself....thinking I may just have enough snacks with the QSDP. I'm sure there are some "snacks" that we could probably use for breakfast. Justsyd2 - how did you arrange the Costco water drop off and how much does it cost? I am not a member of Costco - do you have to be to get the water drop off?

Since we don't need park tickets to get the dining plan - can I get the plan for my 2 year old? He is a big boy and eats more than my DD6 sometimes. If we can purchase the dining plan for him, I would say we would definitely have enough snacks and might just pack some microwave popcorn and things like that in the luggage.

Thanks so much for all the tips here. I have learned so much and think the May trip will be the best one yet!

You don't have to be a Costco member to order online (they charge .40 if you're not a member). A case of water is around $7.00. On the name line you enter "hold for (your name)", and then the resort address.

You can pay for the plan for your 2 year old, that's not a problem. Usually to add the dining plan you'll need to add at least one park ticket to his reservation, but you said that you won't need park tickets. I assume that you have tickets for him? You'll need to check on that...if your reservation says that he's on the dining plan then they'll assume that he'll need a park ticket to enter the parks.

Thanks again for the tip on Costco.

Staying at a DVC on resorts, no tickets are needed to purchase the DDP so that is different than those staying at other resorts.

Does anyone know if I just register him as 3 or can I say he is 2 but still want the DDP for him? Maybe DVC members know?
