Ok...so I tried to do a bit of searching through the forums for this topic as I am sure I am not the first person to ask this question. But, couldn't quite get the right search string to pull up what I was looking for....so sorry if this is a much discussed topic that I am repeating.

How do all of you get your Disney purchases sent home? On your own? (not my preference)...through Disney? Just trying to figure out how this works.

If I opt to have them sent home while I am in the Disney store buying an item..how does that work? Will it be individual shipments from each store? Or will they compile all the purchases over a period of time and then send in one box?

Not sure I will actually need to ship much as I usually just pack anything purchased in my luggage. However, this year I might actually opt to buy some wine or potential other "breakables" ...and I would like to know my options ahead of time so I can have a game plan in place ahead of time (keeps things easy going and stress free that way...less thinking, more enjoying..haha).

We were just there the beginning of June, and we shipped a lot of stuff home through the stores where we bought the items. Multiple purchases from different stores were NOT combined, BUT since we were shipping the items home, we were not charged sales tax, which offset a large portion of the shipping fees (which I thought were very reasonable).

One thing to keep in mind is that you can not ship any food item home, so you probably can't ship the wine home via Disney unless you pack it up yourself. We were able to do that at Coronado Springs. We had shipped stuff down so we had a box to ship stuff back home, we just made sure to pack the tape! We shipped the wine home encased in a bunch of laundry (clean) to use for padding!

We ended up needing to have a purchase shipped home last time. A 5 ft long wooden martial arts stick that our 13 year old purchased while unsupervised! We shipped it from the resort the morning of our departure. Apparently that kind of thing is also banned on aircraft!

Thanks Lynn and Lori.

Particularly good to know that if I arrange for shipping from the store at the time of purchase that I will not pay local tax.

Last time we went I avoided buying some larger or more delicate souvenirs (particularly in the countries of Epcot)..simply because I didn't want to deal with trying to get them home.

As to the wine...I may look into getting one or two of those cushioned wine carriers to put in my suitcase (I think I have seen something like that in a SkyMall magazine or something not too long ago).

Thanks for the info!
