Shipping Luggage Before Trip???

Hello, I was wondering if any of you have shipped your luggage to DW instead of hauling it through the airport????

Would love suggestions and tips on how to do this. Is it cheaper to use UPS do to this than one of those actual services?

Any kind of tips would be welcome to make our trip easier - we are traveling with 3 small girls (ages 5,2 and 11months) at time of trip!

We plan on going the last week of Oct for my b-day, our dd's angel day anniversary and of course Halloween!

Go to the UPS website and get pricing. I did a quick check to send three 70 lb bags by UPS from my home to Lake Buena Vista, FL. For 2 day delivery it would cost $935. Thats $285 per bag plus special surcharges for fuel.

I picked 3 bags at 70 lbs each with the size of a large bag. Now it may be less to ship smaller bags but considering the cost and hassle plus you would have to ship them back again it does not seem very cost effective.

You can try it yourself from your home city.

I shipped our luggage, twice. I had a box that weighed about 26 pounds and it cost me around $20.00 However I shipped it UPS regular ground. I sent it about a week ahead of time. There wasn't anything in there that I needed at home in that week's time. It's much cheaper to ship if you can send it a week ahead. Do NOT send via the postal service. Use either UPS or FedEx.

I included in the box a 4x6 card with our name and address written on it, the rest of the packing tape and a black magic marker. I used all of this to pack up the box for the return shipping home. Once I had the box packed up, I took it down to the concierge desk the day before and they asked how I wanted to ship it (I chose UPS) and how I wanted to pay (I charged it to my room) and off it went. Very easy.
