There was a thread someplace about this but it didn't answer my question, so I'll ask it here. What am I better off doing? Say I buy 8 different things, from different shops throughout WDW. I don't want to carry them home on the plane. Am I better off sending them back to my resort and having the resort ship one big box or should I have each shop send each item home seperately? I know that the tax amount saved just about pays for the shipping. But I don't know which way is better.

So....ship gift home from each shop? Or...

send gift back to resort and group all gifts together at the end of our trip and have resort ship in one big box?

I know I read that thread too. It said that if you spend about $150 in ONE store then it makes it worth it for the shipping amount. So if you are getting a little from several stores, it'd be better to send them to the Hotel and have the Hotel ship them all out in one larger box!!!! Having worked in a couple of shipping departments using UPS, this makes sense - - it's cheaper to send one big box then it is to send several smaller ones. Hope this helps!!! Have a great trip!!!

The only problem is that I don't think the hotel will box it all up for you. When we were there in April we ended up with a TON of stuff to send home. 3 huge boxes worth of stuff. My husband went to the front desk and was sent to the gift shop at POFQ to ask for empty boxes and shipping tape. After he was done boxing it all he had to drive it over to POR to ship it. It was a huge hassle. We assumed that they would do it for us and of course we waited until check out. It was our own fault for being unprepared. We are always running late with two small children anyway so this didn't help. Now we know for next time! :earsboy:

well, if you buy your 8 items and send them to the resort, you'll pay sales tax on all of those, plus the shipping charge at the resort.

The savings from shipping home comes from (assuming home is not FL) avoiding the sales tax.

I try my darnednest to only 'look' while in the parks, and make notes of what I'd like to buy. Then visit World of Disney in DTD and purchase as much as I can, having it all shipped home - I also can get the AP discount at WoD which you can't in the parks.

If you're staying in a deluxe concerige, they often will. If you're at a Disney convention hotel ( CR, CSR, BWI, YC ) they have packing centers which stock all sizes of boxes and materials needed to ship stuff home - all the matericals are no charge, you'll only pay for the shipping.

Most excellent thought!! I try to do this anyway. Saves time when in the parks. That's what I'll do..buy it all in DTD, get my discount and ship it all at once. Thanks.

there's an honest to goodness post office not too far off the property if the hotel would ship it for you. it's off of 535 in the same shopping center as SteaknShake.
