I am hoping someone knowsw the answer to this. I read that people ship things home from the resort. Is that really possible? We will be staying at the CR and BC and it would be great to ship some stuff home instead of lugging it along with 2 kids ;) Do I just take it to the front desk? Any idea how it is shipped - UPS or FED-EX. Any helpful info you can give would be great. Thanks

We buy loads of stuff from the Christmas store in MK every trip and the store packs it and ships it for us. It goes UPS ground. The shipping charge depends on where you live and the amount you spend. I believe you can ship from about any store. We have shipped from World of Disney, Christmas Shoppe and stores on Main Street. Everything is nicely packaged and bubble wrapped too!

Last year, we bought so much stuff that I didn't think I could take it all on the airplane. The CMs at AKL gave me a box and tape, I packed the stuff and took to front desk. They weigh it and put the address info on the package and send it out for you. It was a lot cheaper than paying for an extra overweight bag.

There are a couple things you can do.
1. You can have the store where you purchased the items ship it for you.
When you ship out of state you don't pay tax on it since you pay the
shipping. I have never spent more than ten dollars to ship something
to our home in Arizona. Since you aren't paying tax it is a great deal!
2. Second you can take everything you bought with the reciepts to the
resorts store and they will pack it and ship it for you. They will not
send any kind of food or candy.

It helps a lot with your packing when you have them ship back as much as possible. I have everything shipped except the souvies for the grandkids. LOL
I do buy a lot at the Christmas store and the kitchen store.
It is always nice to get a box at home after you have been home for a few days with the word "DISNEY" on it.
Enjoy your shopping!

During our last trip we bought and shipped a small fortune worth of kitchen items many of which were fragile. Everything arrived in perfect condition, it arrived by UPS and it was shipped right from the stores where it was purchased. We are now the proud owners of a Disney themed kitchen:cool1: :yay:

Without thinking my two sons each bought 3 foot long pirate guns. The did not fit in our suitcases. So we shipped them home for about what we paid for them :rotfl2: the things we do for out kids

The only suggestion I would have is to make sure that there is some sort of insurance in case your package is lost.

My sister did the college work program at Disney. At the end of her program she sent everything that she had bought during her 6 month stay home through the restort that she worked at (POR). There were several hundred dollars worth of items that she had bought in the packages. Well a couple weeks passed and the packages never came. Since she had insurance they actually rebought all of the items that were in the package (I'm assuming she had receipts to verify what she had bought) and resent them to her. I believe that there were a few items that they couldn't rebuy b/c they had been discountinued.

Anyways, the funny part is after they send her all this stuff the original packages come in the mail!!! Being an honest person she called Disney and let them know that she now had 2 of everything!!! And unbelievably they told her to just keep it!!!! :cool1:

I don't know if the CM just didn't want to worry about it what?!?! She still has some of the duplicate stuff in boxes - and this was over 3 years ago!

My point is......... get insurance!!! :goodvibes

Thanks, that's what I thought I read :) I don't plan on buying a lot or breakables at the gifts store beut somehow I can get all of our stuff back into the bags as easily when returning home! LOL If I ship anything back it would be non-essential items like toiletries and trinkets etc..

I do it for the fragile items. Check-out morning I bring down the stuff to the resort shop, have them scan it and pay the shipping.

It's nice to actually get the trinkets a few days after making it home and I've returned to the monotonay of every day life. Plus, if the airline breaks the snowglobe I buy every year, I'm out of luck. If UPS breaks it, Disney will replace it.
