I always see questions about shipping to the resorts, but I was wondering if any Canadians have ever shipped anything from the parks/hotels to Canada. Is the shipping very expensive? Do they use USPS or UPS? I hear that it is usually easiest to use USPS over the border.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I would like to know too. I will be taking solo trip with 2 DD's, and i hope to take 1 suitcase for all 3, it will be a 4 night trip so we won't need much. However, i know i will have no room for souvenirs, and thought about having them sent back as oppose to worrying about a 2nd suitcase. Can you combine a bunch of purchases and have them mailed from resort? Is there somewhere on site to buy boxes for the purchases?

Just an FYI if you do this make sure you declare to customs (either at the airport or the land border) that you have "goods to follow" and they can be included in your normal exemptions. Ask for a form to be filled out and stamped for when your package arrives. Otherwise you could be charged tax/duty on the items that arrive separately even though they may be within your limit.

Shipping stuff from Disney World to Canada is insanely expensive. They ship courier and when we asked last year it would have been $100 to ship something to Canada, which was more expensive then the item! They ship based on the cost of the item and not the size or weight. To ship the same thing within the US was only $30. You're probably better off packing a box yourself and taking it to a post office to ship home.

Oh, right, thanks! I better remember that!

Ew yucky! My only problem would be not having a car. I'll be relying on DME. Is there a post office at the airport?

I take 2 suitcases... pack a smaller one with clothes and then put it into the bigger case. That way I only have to travel one way with 2 cases and don't have to worry about shipping costs. Usually get a cart at the airport so I am not struggling!
The plus of staying at DVC is the washing machines and dryers... we only pack a couple of days worth of clothes and I wash them once while I am there so we are not weighed down.
:o)

That's a good idea too. I wonder what I'll be able to do... I'm going to be away at school this year, and hoping to go in early December and then flying home from Disney. I might not have access to any extra suitcases.... plus I'll be taking all my stuff home. Maybe I'll just send stuff home from school and take as little as possible with me to WDW. That might be easiest. Who knows, I have until December!

There is no on site postal office at DW. The shipping to Canada is insane. We always travel down with just carry on luggage. However inside each piece of carry on is a Disney canvas tote that I have aquired each year through the Disney store. On the way home souvenirs go in the tote as carry on and we check the suit cases. Then I know that the kids have there special memories and if something happens to the luggage it was only smelly dirty clothes:rotfl2:

I bought a framed picture last week at AKL and thought about shipping it home, to Ontario. The picture cost 110.00 and it was going to cost $100.00 to ship it home. As someone earlier mentioned it was going to be charged by item cost not by weight, etc. I am guessing this is to cover insurance costs as well. I ended up carrying it as a carry on which worked out just fine in the end. So to confirm what earlier posters said, unfortunately it is very expensive to ship items home to Canada.

I used to take a second empty as well-just be careful. A lot of the airlines are now charging for the second bag.
