Shipping Clothes to Resort

I am knocking all the wood contacts around me so this isn't the time they get you!!!!

We did the same as we have a local closer as well. The issue here is it also landed at Sanford not MCO and we had so many delays and issues it was a huge stress right at the beginning of our vacation.

NJ is a but far for this, but we actually drove last trip (10 hours with 3 stops , one for sit down breakfast) and it cost about 500 total for 2 people. Way less stressful….crazy to say it, but it was
I know, now that I said that I'm afraid we're in trouble for next time! :crazy2:

We did drive in December 2020, 15 hour drive and we said never again...it was so exhausting and stressful. Add to the fact that all 5 of us were jammed into my husband's crew cab F150 (my car is a Durango but is older and has high miles so we were nervous to take it on a long trip). The kids were on top of each other and my older 2 are like oil and water with each other so it was a ticking time bomb lol. I do wish the drive were shorter, 10 hours even would be more reasonable for us. Driving that distance also adds a vacation day on either end so we'd rather just get there quickly!

The what-if here with the shipping that would still make me not ship things. The box could be a couple days late, and it's not like Disney holds packages for a week or something. It could get lost or damaged or sent back or whatever. What if there's no box to send it back with? Even if it arrives perfectly, you have to mess with shipping it back. When exactly are you going to do that?

If you really need this much stuff, then you're going to have to pay for it one way another. It's not like shipping five carryons worth of stuff is going to be $ 75 either. That's a whole lot of stuff and weight, and shipping things is not cheap either.

I did a three week assignment with a backpack, purse, and a carryon, and that was without an Owner's Locker. I'm not sure why you "need" this much stuff, but if you can't condense to a couple carry-ons, I would pay for checked bags before I would putz with shipping all this stuff you "need."
Valid points. This thread has made me think that I should instead rethink our packing strategy and what we need, and try to consolidate. Maybe I should ship just a few of the unimportant miscellaneous accessories like ears that we didn't leave in the OL and DD's princess dress (which shouldn't cost much to ship) to save space and see how much we can fit into the 'personal item' size bags. It's funny, we went from checking 5 bags years ago, to cutting down enough to just do carry ons, and now we're going to try to cut down further!

As noted in my original post, yes it's Frontier, and the ease of being able to fly out of our small local airports is worth it. Knock on wood, in our almost 10 years of flying budget airlines, we have only been delayed once by more than a half hour (and it was 1.5 hours) and never cancelled.
I was also considering flying out of Trenton but I only see one very early flight.

Leaving so early will not work for us due to some health issues my spouse has.

Does Frontier fly later in the day and am I just missing it when I look?

Yeah we did similar from LI once…..never again. Limit for us is 9 hours with 1 hour lunch break. It gets annoying righr as you hit Jacksonville, but then your so close you get excited and the rest is easy…..

We rent a car when we go, Usually something large…..

We rented a convertible this trip, but they didn't have any, so we got upgraded to a Sienna…..thats the way to go!

As far as shipping stuff, we did it once for winter coats. It was kind of a hassle over all. But it worked. I would go with a premium service not base UPS ground. You might also look at the weather patterns to see if its likelt to be delayed, but if that happens , your flight probably will be also

They've been doing an early flight and a late in the day flight usually...not sure when you're going, but over the next couple of months that has been their schedule. Maybe in slower seasons they drop to one flight? Trenton is great, very easy although very small so it can feel a bit cramped before they start loading the plane.

That could work. I was thinking you split what you need to bring in half. Ship half and then put the rest in backpacks and pay for 1 carry-on if needed. Pay attention to bring the most important stuff with you that can get you through 3 days. If for whatever reason the box doesn’t make it there, plan B would be laundry. When shipping the box, make sure to put your reservation #, check-in date and name. Some of the resorts charge $5 to receive.

Better yet, wear the princess dress on top of your clothes and wear the ears LOL.

Thanks

I will keep checking because flying out of Trenton would be so much easier.

I agree with RoseGold we should be able to all just pack backpacks and be fine.

Now to convince my wife.

You can do it! First time down bring a duffel, an empty duffel in the owner's locker is really helpful if you have to split stay. Pajamas, swim, toiletries, kitchen, park junk in the Owner's Locker. Then all that's left is electronics and a change of clothes.

I just used Lugless to ship a suitcase full of clothes to my SIL. That was Chicago to southern Indiana. It was around $35.

Just did a quick search and 2 full 50lb bags from Trenton to Grand Floridian starts at $62 for delivery in a week.

Could you possibly bring only 2 shirts each, then buy new ones (oversize for the growing kids) at WDW to leave in the OL?
That's a thought, but we have our shirts that we love at home! I actually haven't found many shirts at WDW that we like, I get most from Etsy!

Do you use packing cubes? I won't go anywhere without them. I would just plan to pay for 1 or 2 carry-on bags and use the rolling method & use the cubes. You'd be surprised how much you can fit in a large cube. I'm assuming your kiddos are smaller so their clothes shouldn't take up much space. You can easily get 2 Large packing cubes into each carry-on size bag. Paying for 2 carry-ons surely cannot cost anywhere close to $600. We also like to skip checking luggage when we can BUT we fly planning to each have 1 carry-on regardless of the airline. Upcharges for luggage suck BUT they're a fact of life these days if you want to fly. We usually fly SW but I just booked 1 flight on JetBlue and it was annoying to have to pay for a more expensive seat in order to bring a carry-on but there's no way we're going for 6 days without at least that much stuff pp. The problem is coming home - no room for souvies.

Never used but there are companies that specialize in shipping luggage to your destination ... a quick search will find

So my brother used to wear extra clothing going down. Literally, they wlayet tshirts, underwear, wear coats or hoodies to bring in extra clothes.

Have you considered just paying for baggage on the way there and shipping the items back? That may give some peace of mind that you will have everything with you on the way down to WDW.

We're considering shipping a box of our clothing and other miscellaneous items via UPS for our April trip to save baggage costs. Has anyone ever done this? Is it more of a pain than it's worth? I

(And no need for comments on how people would never fly Frontier or its peers - we use the budget airlines to be able to fly out of the super mellow small airports near us and not have to fly out of crazy Newark! Even if we end up paying for the bags, it's still worth it to be able to arrive 45 minutes before departure and walk right onto the plane, and United and the others out of Newark are still more money even when factoring in the baggage fees.)
To directly address OP's question and not offer other advice about airlines and packing tips:

I have shipped to and from BCV.

I have not done it since COVID, so forgive me if the procedure has changed. When I did it, anything shipped UPS or FedEx was delivered to the Yacht & Beach Club conference center's business office. Retrieving the box from the conference center was a bit of a pain in the neck. You can call the conference center business office and ask them to have someone bring it to your room. That might work, if they have an employee around who is willing to do that. You can walk over to the conference center yourself, if you will be able to carry the box yourself. The only problem with doing that is if they only have one employee around and that employee decided to deliver a package to another guest, so you get there and nobody is working in the business office. Also, the conference center business office is only open certain hours. If you want your package before or after that, it might be closed. If you are in that situation, you can try going to the Beach Club front desk and asking them to have someone go over and get the package for you. I did that at BoardWalk but I haven't tried it at Beach Club.

One time I arrived and my room wasn't ready. I walked over to the convention center, retrieved my box, and gave it to Bell Services to hold until my room was ready. That way, I knew where it was and that I could have Bell Services bring it up to my room with my luggage when I was in the room.

It's not a long walk from BCV to the conference center, but I seem to recall reaching a point where there are no signs and I wasn't exactly certain where I was supposed to go. The walk back from the conference center to BCV was confusing. One time I accidentally ended up walking over to the Yacht Club. I think I went out a different door from the one I used to enter the building.

The business office is supposed to charge you a fee for receiving your package. Use the link below to see the fees.

The business offices are not run by Disney. They are run by an outside company.

I shipped FedEx, not UPS. I only did that because the FedEx near my house is easier to get to than the UPS. The first time I did it, the FedEx employee happened to be someone who had family in the Orlando area to whom she had shipped stuff in the past. She said my box would get there fast even if I didn't choose overnight delivery. I think I paid for cheaper 3-day delivery and it arrived the next day.

I also have shipped stuff home from the Yacht & Beach Club convention center. I had packed a clear trash bag. I put the stuff I wanted to ship in that, and took it over to the business office. I did not have a box, but they boxed it up and shipped it home for me.

Oh, yeah, another tip I read on here years ago: have the kids decorate the box with crayons. Or put your name on each side of the box. One time I checked the FedEx tracking and saw that my box had been delivered. But the person in the business office looked and said they didn't have it. I made them look again. My name only appeared on the top of the box. They had set another box on top of my box. So when they glanced in the back, they didn't see a box addressed to me.

I must be weird because I actually like flying in and out of Newark lol but I also will do Lehigh Valley to Sanford with carry-on fees + Turo rental if it is cheaper than Newark airfare + mears connect round trip during high cost travel seasons.

Just wanted to update on the box I FedExed to FQ on Tuesday. It's arriving at FQ today, not Friday, as estimated on the FedEx map.

I put a note on the top of the box showing the confirmation # and arrival date. There was no room for either on the FedEx label.
