Shipping Charges

Just read this on All Ears newsletter and thought (after reading the ship it home tip so many times on this board) that some of you might be interested to know.

Sandy Schneider notes: Be forewarned that shipping charges at the resorts have skyrocketed. The manager and cashier could not figure out why my items, which were $15.95 to ship previously, rang up at $112.95! It took about 30 minutes before they found out about the new rate charts. The shipping is based on retail price, not weight. Mailing home souvenirs is no longer cost-effective. We bought a new suitcase instead.

The shipping has always been based on retail prices. I can't imagine what could possibly have caused such a steep increase in shipping costs. Maybe they finally realize that they need to actually have someone pack your items carefully instead of just throwing the bag in a box and taping it closed. So they need to charge everyone an extra $100 to pay these people.

I paid $15.95 for everything we had shipped home the last week of September. I hope it doesn't go up that much because that is a great service that I had planned on using again for upcoming trips.
