Shipping Boxes ???

Hi All,

The last 2 cruises I mailed my Packages 3 boxes the week before,(I live in the New York area) with Fedex ground. You can track it with them & they have GREAT Customer Service just in case there is a problem. Both cruises they arrived with no problem.

I did ship soda, in one of my boxes, along with some wine, and sissiors. I bubble wraped it & then bubble wrapped it, and then I bubble wrapped it some more. I just did not want to take any chances of it opening. The only problem I had, was, I hard time opening the bubble wrap. Everything arrived perfect.

The second cruise, I sent swim masks, flippers & plastic row boat (they will air fill it on Castaway Cay. The kids, had a blast in the boat. When were were thru, I just threw every thing away. It save us lot's of time & money.

Hope this helps

Patricia

Where do you go on CC to have them fill the plastic boat?

Use Ground if you have any doubts. How do you think they get it from the manufacturer to your local stores?
You certainly have a point there!! Why didn't I think of that?

We've decided to ship some things to the ship. Any way of shipping it back? If not I guess we'll head to a mail boxes etc. or usps.

I'm curious to know the answer to this question too. Especially if you're taking the DCL bus to the airport and therefore, don't have the option of making a stop somewhere. Maybe there's a UPS shipping place inside the airport.

I'm not sure this thread is still active but I need a little help!

I checked the FAQ's regarding shipping items to the Wonder ahead of your scheduled trip so that your "stuff" is waiting for you when you get on the ship.

Numerous posts read that people shipped wine/beer/soda/food items, etc.
When I e-mailed DCL, the reply stated that those items were not allowed to be sent to the warehouse.

I'm wondering if anyone can clear this up for me. I'd love to ship some wine/beer/soda but if it is not allowed then how can I consume it on the ship?

Are they sending it to a different warehouse than DCL?

I'd appreciate any help/guidance on this matter! :)

It is my understanding that IDS will no longer accept any types of packages that includes the items that you are asking about. IDS provides DCL with products that they hold for them, but trying to weed out the excessive packages that were being sent to be delivered to the ship. There is no other address available that I know of that would help in this situation.

Kritter, if you don't mind me asking...

What did you have in the boxes?

I sailed on the Magic Sept 16th-23rd. I shipped two medium boxes and they arrived with no problem. I had Mountain Dew in one of them. Neither box had been opened when they were left in my room. Unless they x-ray them, they will never know what you have in them. There was nothing said to me. I put the soda in the small refrigerator in the room and it was cold when I wanted it. I carried the cans with me around the ship, especially up to the pool. No one said anything to me about having it.

Can anyone find out if this is a recently changed policy? Last October I called IDS to ask various q' and the helpful woman I spoke with said, "I wouldn't ship anything glass. Especially alcohol. We take no responsibility..." (italics mine). So, I wonder if this is a ... "rule", just like not bringing alcohol through the terminal in carryons with you is a "rule".

yes, they cracked down and the policy changed just as we were preparing to leave for the Oct 28th cruise. It was updated here on the DIS at that time. Some on my cruise had already sent their water, etc down. Some were delivered - others were not. Mostly, I think it was the bottled water alone that was sent back - and I believe Staples notified people they could no longer ship it. I waited too long and choose not to ship water. It was no big - we just had a grocery stop and picked it up - you can still bring the stuff in yourself and have it checked and sent to your stateroom.

They have cracked down on what can be shipped - and they want a packing slip on the outside of the box detailing the contents. I can't say I blame them.

I did send 2 boxes down with costumes and decorations - and trick or treat bags of candy which I just left off the packing slip.... I won't do it again, but for our sailing it was way too late for me to change what I had planned. I opted to take my chances. Both boxes arrived just fine.

I just returned from the 10/21 Western Caribbean and I came in the day before and stayed at the Hyatt. I had them deliver the case of water and the wine at the airport and put the water in the suitcases and carried the box of the wine on board. No problems. (I had originally order the water from Staples to the warehouse but was notified by Staples that they were not being accepted.) HTH :thumbsup2

sounds like it. which is a bummer. do you know how heavy 2 cases of wine can be? hmmmm .... guess I'll ship my clothes, bring empty suitcases on the plane and stop at Publix on the way to the port. :lmao:

I had Halloween candy and decorations mostly...

I took a empty suitcase with me and filled it with water before I boarded and my DH took a roll away cooler filled with beer and margartita mixes and we took all of it on no problems.......

Howdy,
We just got back from the Dis Geeks Double Dip cruise and I have a great report on shipping a package ahead.

My room was upgraded (Ye Haw!) changed, shifted, and changed again. All this happened after I shipped my package ahead.

In spite of the fact that I had 4 different room numbers my package still arrived just fine on the first day of the cruise.

I had all the recommended information written on the package including my confirmation number.

I just wanted y'all to know in case anyone else had a worry about room shifting.

Hi All,

I was on the Thanksgiving Cruise a few weeks back, I also shipped 2 packages. One had a bottle of wine very carefully wrapped in bubble wrapped.

I also packed extra clothing as well as many of our toiletries. Included was some swimming gear, rafts, swim masks. I even made a romantic a gift basket for my DH.

Everything arrived perfect, the package was in my room before our suitcases.

Hope this helps.

Patricia
