Hi everyone,
We leave for our first trip to WDW in 20 days! :cool1:

After listening to advice of some friends, we are planning to ship a box of snacks and breakfast foods to our resort (POR) ahead of time to save us space in our bags.

Does anyone know how I go about doing this? Is there an address for POR to send it to? How do I label the box? How long will they hold it for/when should I send it?

TIA!
Jen

The mailing address for each resort can be found at the allears website.

I always address it to the resort and then underneath the address, towards the bottom left, I put the name the reservation is under and the arrival date like this:

John Doe, ARR 01/01/08

We UPS it about a week in advance. When we check in, we ask for them to check to see if we anything there and they always come out with our box!!! We have never had a problem.

also include your resv #
& call the front desk & inform them..some CMs seemed lost when I asked about it, so Id call & give the 411

i'm so glad i searched this topic because i was going to ask the same thing...we leave in 22 days and counting...:cool1:

one other thing is would it be better to do the online grocery shopping (from i can't remember the grocery store name) or just do as the op said and send my own package with snacks/capri suns...i really don't want to spend a chunk to ship all of this stuff but on the other hand i read that there was a delivery charge and a service charge...can anyone help here....

thanks in advance, amanda

yes, there is a delivery charge that the resort tacks onto your room bill. Also, keep in mind the tip to the bell person that does the delivery to your room.

I did this in '01 because I had 2 in diapers so I packed a case of diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. We don't rent a car so I did NOT want to buy diapers at wdw prices for 10 days for 2 toddlers!

I want to say the delivery charge at that time was about $20.....but we had a large box about 2' x 2' x 2'! (we ups'd it for free from my mom's company...shhh!)

anyway,,,,,it is still cheaper than renting a car......even if it costs you a total of $50.....you are probably saving at least that from buying these things at your resort shop.

Here's the standard info on this.. Please note the stuff about AVOIDING the US Postal Service.

Don't ship it through the Post Office... Here is why... The US Post Office does NOT recognize Disney streets, any and all mail being sent to Disney through the US Post Office will go to the PO Box (regardless of how you address it) as the post office does not deliver to Disney directly. From the PO Box it is sorted into sections and then specific locations before it is delivered out to property. This can take quite a bit of time.

UPs, Fed Ex, DHL, any kind of courier service will deliver directly to the hotel. My suggestion would be to get the package ready and send it out about 7 days prior to your arrival (you can send it further out if you like they will hold it). If you give yourself enough time you can ship it ground service which is the cheapest.

As for who to address it to you would want to address it like this:

The name of the person who is the LEAD name on the reservation (may not be you, but it is easier to find that way)
C/O the hotel you are staying at/ Front Desk
The address of the hotel
And put HOLD for guest check in and the date (you can put the res # too if you want, but it is not really needed).

So it would look something like this

John Smith
C/O Disney's Wilderness Lodge Front Desk
Hold for guest arrival 4/02
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Fl 32830

Here is a list of the resort address' (again this can ONLY be used for courier services, US Post office will not deliver to the property directly)

Never under any circumstances write your reservation number on the package. There is too much information linked to that number. Your name and arrival date is sufficient. Have fun.:thumbsup2

Is it standard for all resorts to charge a fee now to hold your package?

We were just there in late October at the GF and they DID NOT charge us anything to hold the package!
