SHIP OF FOOLS SISTERHOOD - Strong & Healthy in 2005!!!

Good for you Denine. You didn't snack when you wanted food for comfort. :cool1: You are doing great! How is your plantar faschiitis doing? Still crossing my fingers that you won't need the surgery like me. By the way, is yours one foot or both?

Barbara, yes, my twin daughter is expecting twins on MY due date. Crazy! I would love to know what I could do for resistance training at home. Do you have any good ideas to firm my thighs? Plus because of my hysterectomy I can't get rid of my tummy. Any ideas for that? Sit ups are a no no for me due to arthitis in my neck and a bad back. Wow, reading this makes me feel like everything is wrong with me.

Lisa, glad to hear that you are getting over those shingles. I have known SEVERAL people that had them. They definitely are painful!! Way to go on the weight loss!

I try NOT to snack so I don't have a favorite. If worst comes to worst, I have a 30 calorie no salt rice cake. I am a BIG popcorn freak so a lot of times I save my starch until evening to indulge in my popcorn fix. Remember, I am losing with LA Weight Loss so therefore my habits are probably different. They have us eat or drink two soy protein bars or soy protein drinks a day so I get my sweet fix there. The bars are to die for. Just like eating a candy bar. I like to have one bar and one drink a day. Usually their hot chocolate or their choc shake. Thank goodness they all are so yummy. Gosh, with all this talk it made me want one. Guess I will go have a snack. See ya!

Here's a prayer for all those still trying:

rosie_on_the_scale.gif

Now I lay me
Down to sleep.
I pray the Lord
My shape to keep.
Please no wrinkles
Please no bags
And please lift my butt
Before it sags.
Please no age spots
Please no gray
And as for my belly,
Please take it away.
Please keep me healthy
Please keep me young,
And thank you Dear Lord
For all that you've done.

Gee thanks Mark!

Sandy: The PF is in both feet, but the right foot is the worst. The relafen doesn't seem to help much. There is a website that sells foot inserts that someone on the CB told me about. She said they really helped her. I don't think I could do your diet Sandy, I like the points system. But, it is really working for you. I can't wait to see you in August. We will both be skinny!

Down 2 more pounds this week. 2 more and I am half-way there!

Mark, I guess you don't read all of this thread, because I posted that one some time ago.

Way to go Denine

We are closer to getting our WW group together. Wish me luck!

Tracy

Another 2 pounds off of me, too! I am so excited. I wasn't expecting it so it was a great surprise. I am now only 6 pounds from my first goal that I set for myself. I have since rethought it and want to lose an additional 10. Sixteen more to go.

Denine, way to go. You are doing absolutely wonderful. You have more willpower than me. I needed that one on one counseling to keep me on track. Can you believe how skinny we both will be? We will need to take pictures together to show everyone!

Wow, what a great inspiration Mark is-------NOT!

Hey Ladies!

Just wanted to check in and say hi! It sounds like everybody is having a pretty good week, aliments and all. Thankfully, other than the fact that I am overweight, my health is pretty good. Kudos to anybody trying to loose weight AND battle health problems.

Sorry I didn't check in last week - it was really busy for me. I lost an additional 1.5 pounds for a total weight loss of 11 pounds. This morning I was putting on a pair of capri pants for work that I haven't worn since last fall and they are SUPER big in the waist. I was beyond thrilled and have been lifting my shirt up at work to show anyone who is interested (he-he) how loose they are. Mind you, I am only lifting it far enough to show my waist!

I may be getting a little ahead of myself here, but as I was gleefully exclaiming over my loose pants a thought occured to me. I am wondering what to do about "in between clothes." At the present time, even though I have lost some weight, I can still fit in my fat clothes. Sooner or later, hopefully, I will not be able to fit in my current clothes because they will be too big. But since I have a sizeable amount of weight to loose I don't want to really spend money on these "in between clothes" because I will maybe need even smaller sizes once I reach my goal weight. Does this make sense?

Now again, I may be a little ahead of myself, but I am wondering if any of you other sisters who have experienced signifigant weight loss could pass along any tips.

Next weight-in is Thrusday. I will check back then.

Gabrielle

Gabrielle, congrats on the weight loss! Keep it up. I have lost 42 pounds so far so I can tell you what I did for clothes. I pretty much kept the same shirts but bought off the clearance rack for my pants. Never anything I REALLY liked but something cheap just to get me through to the next size. I did postpone buying pants until they were BAGGY at each size. That eliminated a couple of sizes. Oh, and I also bought at cheapy stores for my jeans. Like Walmart or Target. Heck, jeans are jeans, right?

Congratulations on your loss so far. I have lost 40 pounds so far and have about 10 to go. I wore my big clothes most of the time, occasionally buying replacements/in between clothes. I went to a resale shop. That way I could sell my old clothes and get new ones cheaper than brand new.

Getting inbetween clothes is important. Once I got new clothes, I felt better and looked better. I wore a pair of big pants yesterday and felt like was drowning in them. And I looked fat. Trust me, it's worth it!

Tracy

A resell shop is a great idea. I just don't know where one is here. Man, I could have made big bucks. I donated mine. Clothes do help you feel good about yourself in the middle of losing that is for sure. Everytime I would get that smaller size I would feel so proud of myself. Tracy, I didn't realize that you have lost the same as me. Way to go!!

Sandy - great suggestion about cheapy and clearance clothes. Target has got to be my favorite store so this would be a great place to start. I also think I will push it until the clothes are falling off my body before I get anything new. That should help save a size or two!

Tracy - I would have never thought of the resale shop. I will have to see what I can find in my area. I also agree that buying those new, smaller sized clothes will help me feel better about the whole process. I already feel so good about the little weight I have lost. And having those pants so loose just gave me that much more incentive to continue on this weight loss path. The smaller sized clothing is just one more reward for doing well.

Weight-in tonight. I will check back tomorrow.

No loss this week, but that means that I went two weeks without gaining :cheer2:

Lots of stress this week. Work has been crazy, getting a group together has been so stressful (I ended up paying for two people just go get it done). Now I can go back to focusing on my exercise and food.

I actually think I've lost .2-.4 of body fat in the last two weeks so that's something to cheer about :cheer2:

Today was the first week so we really didn't talk about much, but I do realize a little information goes a long way. We talked about St. Patricks Day celebrations. Knowing the points helps so much!

Corned beef 4 points (2 oz) Not core
Potatoes 2 points Core
Cabbage 0 points Core
Pint of Guiness 4 points Not core

Total points 10. Not bad!

Tracy: Glad you got your meeting together.

We ate our corned beef and potatoes. I saved most of my weekly points for today. I am going to have some Bailey's tonight. I used the other flex points for a birthday party on Sunday.

I have 2 pairs of pants that I bought a bigger size in because they were so cheap. I am swimming in them, but that is better than not being able to breathe. I keep looking for sales on smaller pants and when they get down in price, I will by some. Heck, I bought a pair of size 12 pants for $2 at a store in the mall.

Tracy: Keep up with losing that body fat. You are going to be a lean machine come cruise time.

Sandy: Yes, we will have to have our picture taken together so everyone can see how thin we are!

Gabrielle:Congrats on the weight loss!

Well, the bad news is that I am offically 1 pound heavier. :sad2:

But here is the strange part. I just could not believe that I was 1 pound heavier when everything else, like really loose clothing, seems to be pointing in another direction. So this morning I weighed myself on my scale at home and I was actually down 4 pounds from the night before. I am pretty sure my scale at home is acurate based on past comparisons with the scale at Jenny Craig. So what gives? Have any of you ever had this happen? Is it possible for your weight to fluctuate like this?

Tomorrow, if I get there, I will weigh myself at Curves. Their scale seems to be pretty acurate as well. Not sure if I will be able to make it as tomorrow is opening day for my son's baseball season, but they are predicting rain. If it rains I can go to Curves, but if not it will be baseball all day!

I am not usually one to weigh myself every chance I get. I have usually just been waiting for my weekly weigh-in so I won't drive myself crazy. But now I am concerned that I am weighing myself at the wrong time of day. If I weigh myself in the late evenings is it possible that I could be a pound or two heavier then if I weigh myself in the morning? :confused3

Well as always thanks for letting me put my thoughts down in writing.

Hey Denine, I was just looking at your weight loss counter. You are practically half way to your goal. Way to go!

Tracy - way to go on maintaining your weight loss! I know you still want to loose a bit more but any week you go without gaining is a positive week!

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Gabrielle

Gabrielle: I always weigh myself at the same time of time. I am guessing there could be a difference due to little fluctuations.

If I can lose the 30 pounds, then I need to lose 5 more, but I will be thrilled with 30.

I'd like to try Curves, I just don't have time right now. The treadmill seems to help. Maybe when Kaleigh is older.

No weight loss for me this week, but. . . I now fit into a pair of my 1999 jeans. Trust me that hasn't happened in a while. ;) It has been a stress filled week, and I have not been paying attention to my eating. Add to that both my mother in law and daughter have requested I make fudge and yes I had to taste it. What can I say I am weak when it comes to homemade fudge.

As for the 5K I can now run two miles consistently at a 15 min mile without feeling like a limp dishrag. This week I'll start adding time. I have my running clothes packed for our WDW trip. We are staying at beach club so I plan to run around the lake. I am also taking my pedometer and some healthy snacks for the parks. Thanks for the low fat triscuit idea. I just love them. I have a case of water in the car already. I am so looking forward to seeing my daughter, watching her do her show at EPCOT ,and getting the last of my parents possessions that survived the hurrincane(s) back to them. BTW she informs me that they are doing some soft opening of SOARIN so I think I'll just plant myself near the enterance and hope for good things.

Congrats to all who have lost weight or exercised consistently, or resisted tempation, or tried something new to be healthy this week. As far as I'm concerned we are all winners.

Happy Easter or Passover to all my friends. I will be thinking of you this weekend in WDW.

Gabrielle, make sure that you weigh yourself the same time of day each time. I am going through a crazy time myself. I lost last week 2 pounds but two days later I gained it back after being very careful. Now over the weekend, I gained another pound. I went to the doctor for a thyroid test on Saturday. Maybe it has something to do with that. I bought a 10.00 pair of Calvin Klein jeans at Dillards. I love them! They were originally 60.00.

Denine, I wish we had a treadmill but I wonder about my feet. How can you do it?

Tracy, way to go in the body fat loss! You are doing great.

eyeRN, you are doing good as well. Running like that is such an accomplishment. I just don't have the stamina. Never could run. I had rheumatic fever as a child so they never let me run. Not even to bases playing baseball at school. I think they don't do that anymore. Fudge??.....and you only sampled? Then you are REALLY doing good. Not sure if I could have just "sampled".

EyeRN: You may not have lost any weight, but you may have gained some muscle and lost fat. Enjoy Easter in WDW. Wish we were going to be there too. I LOVE fudge!

Sandy: My feet don't hurt on the treadmill. OK, they do once in a while, but I walk through it.

Nothing new or exciting here.

No weight loss for me this week. It must have been all that corned beef for St. Patty's day. Hopefully next week.

Off to do my treadmill.

Oh, check out the new Stoneyfield Farm light smoothies, only 2 points for 10 ounces and yummy!

Well Denine, I don't have anything to brag about either. I had a .4 gain.

Got a call from my doctor last night. My thyroid is definitely right at the point of needing low dose medication. The doctor said it was up to me. I chose not to take anything. What do you guys think? Denine recommended having it checked again in 6 months and I believe that is GREAT advice. Thanks Denine.
