my 11 year old, who has been spending the last two weeks at her father's house, just gave me the brush off while we were talking on the phone --- so that she could sign onto the computer and send me IM/s "because that's more fun."

My dd, 12 does the exact same thing, but, she also talks on the phone with other friends, sometimes the very person she is I/M'ing!

Yep mine IM's with me from the computer upstairs.....Our 2nd computer is in the upstairs den which overlooks the downstairs den where computer number 1 is.....so I can actually look up and see J.C. IMing me from the other computer.....

J.C. also does the talking on the phone WHILE IMing with the same person too.....

He also texts on his cell phone at the movies with the person he is THERE with!!

But I'm OLD and I just don't get it

When my DD was still at home, we would IM each other from across the room, lol!

Now I think it's the greatest thing. I can't imagine what my phone bills would be without it.

When my dd goes to my brother and SIL's it about kills her to talk to me on the phone. But she'll ICQ and email me a bzillion times.

I can relate to her, I personally like IM better than the phone
