Just checking in with a Northern VA update:

We were very lucky and never lost power (thank-you underground lines). Schools and Fed Gov't are in session tomorrow. After two days of being home-bound, we'll all be glad to get out a bit, but I will miss making early dinners and having a glass of wine at 3:00!

I'm really worried about poor Jungle Cruiser whose beautiful home is now surrounded by downed trees and power lines and is without power. She is hopeful that a friend will be able to take her for treatment and meds. She is always brave and strong, but I still worry about her

I hope that everyone who is without power gets back on the grid ASAP. The WDTC "resort reservation changes" line needs you!!!!!

Kook, happy to hear you guys are okay and never lost power. Our kids out out of school tomorrow as well, we just rec'd word from the district. needless to say, Sam is happy (but I reminded her that she will be making up the days at some point). As to the wine, I say throw caution to the wind and go ahead indulge tomorrow at 3pm!!

Still no word from Dani ... do hope she is okay, just has no cell service. When you can Dani, check in with one of us!

My power came back on about 1/2 hour ago I feel so lucky . I hope and pray that any of my DIS family still out gets their power restored soon.

I was just thinking about Dani and remembered my SIL posted on FB this morning that she had no phones, home or cell. She is on Long Island and I'm thinking that is probably what is going on with Dani as well.

On a happier note...we leave for disney in 18 days!!

I've been home with my girls today and it has given me lots of time to think....dangerous, I know...

So, the whole MK vs. Epcot resort question...more to the point, BC/YC vs. Poly. People often come on the boards and ask which one of the two is better, and the atmosphere always plays into it.

People on the Poly side talk about, tiki torches, Hawaiian music, the view of the castle...and yes, I agree that is all magical.

No one really mentions that about the Epcot resorts, it's usually all about location, location, location. But, I really like to be submerged in the Disney feel and although YC/BC is visually gorgeous, I'm trying to decide if the magic is there...

The Poly seems like so much more of an adventure and get-away if you get my gist....

Thoughts? Or do I just need to get back to work?

Go back to work!! It's plenty magical at BC/YC!

In all seriousness, I hope everyone is safe! I can't believe the trees down in Sarah's yard! Keep checking in when you can! Thanks to those of you able to post updates!

Well, jus finished making DD3 birthday cake...a "rainbow butterfly" as per her request! And five lunches, I am going on a field trip with her class tomorrow and it's her birthday! One of her presents is the Cinderella castle playset, she saw it at the Disney store and fell in love with it. She will be so excited to see it.

OMG! Is it the playset that was sold at the gift shops at Disney??? Was about $80 with all of the little figurines?? DD5 wanted that SOOOOOO BAD!!! We did not have room to bring that back with us in our suitcases, so she is getting it for Christmas...tell me how she likes it!

Hi guys! We "weathered" the storm just fine. Power went out, came back, went out, and is back again. No damage at all. Very lucky. Friends we know haven't been so lucky. We love in the middle of the island so I wasn't terribly worried.

Happy to see all my RC family pulled through ok.

Same here, I keep getting drawn to my cell phone to check the disboards, oh and I checked on airfare prices yesterday, LOL. Gotta keep working to feed my Disney addiction, haha.
