sheraton vistana ??

Can get a good rate on a 2 bedroom villa but there are NO non-smoking rooms available (thru allears) . I thought most places were now non-smoking ?? Anyone have any info and if these are smoking rooms how bad is the smell? Will a can of febreeze be enough??
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!

My understanding is that none of the condos at the Vistana are classified as non smoking, as this is a timeshare and if owners want to smoke they can. As most people don't smoke, and they don't isolate smokers in particular units, etc. I've never seen any evidence of smells or smoking when we've stayed here. I've done four stays at this resort to date.

Can you share your source for this? I'm a Vistana owner and have never seen anything from them on this. It was mentioned on another board as well. My husband doesn't smoke inside the unit, but the last time we were there a year or so ago, that was just a request, not a requirement.

I own there and as a non-smoker, i've never had problems with the smell of smoke there

This has changed, but I don't remember when. All units are now non-smoking. Here's Sheraton's page with the policy:

Urgent Information
Renovations are taking place in some units and there is limited parking. If you have more than one car or an oversized vehicle or trailer, please call the resort for parking instructions. Pets are not allowed on the resort property. Smoking is prohibited in the villas, as well as on patios, balconies, pool decks, playgrounds and in all public amenity areas. Violation of the smoke free policy will result in the assessment of a cleaning fee of up to $250.00. Some buildings have 3 levels and no elevator. If a handicapped unit is needed, confirm into a 2 bedroom, sleep eight. Call the resort one month in advance for handicappedunits or for any other special requests.

This policy change, plus the refurbishment of all sections due to be completed in early 2011, has moved Vistana from "I'd settle for it" to "I'll take it".
