We're considering a stay at Sheraton Vistana Villages in April. We've stayed at Vistana Resort (in renovated villas) for the past two trips but I'm not finding availability through my timeshare. I know the kids would love the new pool & slide so I'm very open to the Villages.

Can anyone tell me the status of the villas? I know the whole resort is one of the newer ones but does anyone know when the villas were last renovated? Are there any sections that are as bad as the older sections of Vistana Resort before the latest renovation (ie. Courts)? Are there any that are particularly new that we should request?

Also, do all of the 2BR villas has two beds in the second bedroom? My timeshare exchange company has it listed as 1 full bed but everything I've found through the Sheraton website says each 2BR has 2 full beds in the 2nd bedroom.

The other resort we are considering is Marriott Cypress Harbour but it sounds like it's a tight squeeze in the 2nd bedroom with the one bed and pull out couch opened up.

I don't think there have been any large scale renovations at SVV yet. The vintage of the oldest buildings is about the same as Lakes at SVR; not too old. I have heard rumors that the oldest buildings are getting just a little shabby. The order of the sections was Bella Florida, Key West, Amelia, and St Augustine (80% certain - I might have the middle two mixed up).

The "pure" 2BR units all have 2 full beds in the 2nd bedrooms, but a lot of the 2BR units at SVV are lockoffs. If it is a lockoff, then there will only be one bed in the 2nd BR, but there is a second living area with a sleeper sofa, so if someone doesn't mind the sofa, it is almost a 3BR. Note that Lockoffs are rarely deposited as a single unit with the exchange companies however - they are worth more as 2 single bedroom units.

You can see the floorplans for the various villas here: http://www.starwoodvacationownership.com/sheraton_vistana_villages/villas.jsp

Sheraton Vistana Villages has a bit of everything in the second bedroom. I would decide what's important to you and ask for that, say a dedicated two-bedroom meaning no one has to sleep on a sofa sleeper.

In Marriott Cypress Harbour, the second bedroom only has a queen bed plus a sofa sleeper and it is a tight squeeze with that sofa open.

We chose Marriott Grande Vista recently and had a dedicated two bedroom unit so no child had to sleep on the sofa sleeper.

Thanks for the info! We booked Vistana Villages for our April trip. We have two boys but will also have a friend's daughter traveling with us. They can sleep in the same room, but definitely separate beds (they have a cousin-like relationship). If we get a 2BR lock-off, we'll put the two boys in the second king together & give the little girl the pull out sofa in the second living room. If we get a dedicated 2BR (which is probably more likely with a timeshare exchange), we'll use an air mattress to come up with the 3rd bed.

I'm happy with our choice & now I'm crossing my fingers for decent airfare from Southwest!

I have stayed in both a 1 br and a 2 br. Both times it was with 2 adults and 2 kids. Both had plenty of room. Even with the kids sleeping on the fold out. Having said that, we liked the 2 br for the fact that the kids could sleep in or go to bed at night and we weren't stuck in our room trying to be quiet.
