We just received an offer for Sheraton Vistana Villages $169 for a 2 Bedroom villa for 5days/4nights and $100 cash back. We must attend the 90 min timeshare presentation.

We booked for Columbus weekend. We have never stayed offsite but I thought this deal was pretty good, so we went for it. I have a couple of questions.

1. Can I request a nonsmoking room?

2. New is more important than the view, which building do I request?

3. I read many reviews on tripadvisor and they said the TS presentation lasted 180 mins plus, can I stand up after 90 mins and leave? What should I say?

We will have a car so transportation is not an issue. Thanks for any help and or info you have!

If anyone has pics that would be great!!! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can request a non-smoking room. I'd suggest calling the resort a couple of weeks before your check-in date to make the request.

This is a relatively new resort without a lot of difference between the oldest and newest buildings. However, someone will probably come along who knows which the newest buildings are.

You're going to be required to stay to the end to get the room rate deal and the $100 cash back. The rental agreement will spell out the cost of your stay in the cash that you don't attend or complete the timeshare presentation. Timeshares get around the 90 minutes by not counting time spent for the 'free' breakfast that usually goes with these things and sometimes they don't count a tour of the resort (if there is one). So even though they're taking up your time it doesn't all count toward the ninety minutes. For a Vistana I'd suggest that you plan on spending the better part of a morning (usually scheduled for the last full day of your visit for these type of deals) learning all about timesharing and the wonderful vacations that Sheraton can provide  .

Gee I wish I received another one of these. I have had 2 of them and they are great. It used to be you did not even need to take the tour to get the 100 back.

We just moved our reservations from the Vistana Resort to the Vistana Villages. (heard too many horror stories about the unrenovated rooms at the resort)

I booked it using the discounts advertised on these boards. There is NO mention of having to attend any kind of presentation! I've talked to several Sheraton agents and these presentations were not mentioned.

But I'm reading here that some people are told they HAVE to while others say "just tell them no thanks" or "don't answer their phone calls for the first few days".

I have no intentions of sitting through a timeshare push. We're considering this resort because of their great rates but I'm keeping my Old Key West reservation for awhile too. Am I going to be told "attend or your rate will go up"???????

We just left there a couple of days ago and didn't have to do the presentation to get the $100. We booked about 6 months ao though. We were in building 8 which I believe was older but just fine. Not granite on the counter but solid surface so very nice!

Rates that require a timeshare presentation state so - if your rate didn't state that requirement you will not have to sit through a presentation.

For those that have to attend a presentation, educate yourselves about timeshares at tug and go into a presentation well informed.

That's right on all around. You shouldn't be able to miss the requirement for a timeshare presentation for a booking - they usually reach out to people with a special rate for those or you'll find them in airline magazines sometimes.

I wholeheartedly agree with checking out TUG for any timeshare related information. TUGgers, in general, as at least as educated about timesharing as DISers are about Disney, and a fair number of people are spending time on both boards.
