I was looking at both for a spring stay. Are they part of the same complex? Is there a difference in quality or amenities? Anyone know?

Vistana Villages is newer and somewhat smaller (the original Vistana Resort is huge!) As Spiceycat said, they are separate resorts, a few miles apart. Both are pretty easy drives to WDW.

Both resorts are nice; however, the original Vistana has some older areas, and people who stay in these older areas have reported that they are run down. If you are staying in the original Vistana resort you should get some advice on how to avoid the older areas.

I stayed at the Vistana Villages last winter, and it was very nice.

I'm not entirely familiar with the Village, but the resort is larger....has 2 sit down restaurants onsite, a Pizza Hut and a bar and grill (all offer room service). There are 7 pools, and I think more in way of activities. I don't believe the Villages have a sit down restaurant or offer room service. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm at Vistana resort right now. I don't feel the old areas are "run down".....maybe not as spiffy or modern as the new areas. But they def appear clean and well maintained. The main resort is closer to WDW. Took us 7 min to get to Epcot the other day.
