We leave in 2 weeks :bounce: & have been assigned to Spas section, room 507...tell me the good, the bad, the ugly.....

Just wanted to give this a bump for you...we did not stay in the Spas section so I can't help you there. We did really like the section we were in (can't recall it's name right now) and the grounds were lovely. DH and the kids were in the pool almost every night and we could walk to the little store onsite and pick up odd things we needed. It was also a quick drive to Disney property. Loved how fast we could be there.

Thanks for the reply & bump!!! It's always nice to hear good things about a place you'll be staying at!

Also from MI!! We are in the Lakes section. Haven't been there before but have heard great things about it here!! :cool1:

Too funny Heather! We'll be there from 2/25-3/4. Hope the weather's awesome. I know I'm ready for some sunshine and warmth!

Follow this link and you will be able to find where your apartment is in the resort www.starwoodvacationownership.com. :cool1:
We have just brought in the fountains section so a report on your return would be great :cheer2:

We own in the Fountains section, so I am not sure about the Spas section. But we have a wonderful time there. It is so close to Disney. We have 3 small children and they are really accomodating. And there is a pool for every taste. I love staying onsite, but you can't beat having 2 bedrooms and a kitchen.

We have stayed at the Vistana several times and have never been dissapointed. The Spa's section is one of the older sections.we always stay at a 2 bedroom when we go.You will have access to 7 pools a grocery store a couple of club houses tennnis courts and more, and the great thing is Disney is right accross the highway. The spa section is located near the grocery store which also has a pizzeria and small gift shop inside. We almost bought a timeshare there but found out you could buy a resale at a fraction of the cost.Have a great time.

We stayed in Spas in the summer of '03 and loved it. We were in a different building within the Spas than you'll be in, but I'm sure you'll be very happy there! Have a great time!

The Spas section is one of the older sections. I stayed here once---but we own in the Fountains. While the kitchen appliances were brand new at that time (11/99), we found the decor/furnishings to be dated a bit. Sort of 80'ish. While I don't prefer this section (don't plan on staying here again), it was clean and spacious and we had a very nice view of the duck pond off our patio/balcony.

We were just at the Vistana Resort last week. I think you"d be happy in any area, they all looked nice. We were in the Lakes area. My biggest piece of advice is to sign up for Diamond Lane check-in. When we got there the line was at least 30 people deep. My husband got right in line but I kept looking for the diamond lane line and that only had two people in it. When my husband saw me looking for something and then getting into a different line with only a couple of people in it he gave me a big kiss and thank you. We checked in on a Sat. afternoon, probably their busiest time. We had a great time there hope you do too.

The Lakes area is the second newest section. It's my favorite. I do try and prepare people that the Spas and other older units may/or may not be a slight letdown compared to the brand new sections. Alot depends on what your expectations are, but many have reported being disappointed in the older sections when they drive right past the newer sections, so I just like to prepare people for this. The difference really can't be seen much from the outside, but when you compare the interiors, that's where it's noticeable. Also, the newer Lakes and Cascades are the only sections with elevators. Just an FYI in case you might be traveling with someone with a physical deficit.
I'm in total agreement about the Diamond Lane. You can fill that out 3-5 days prior to check-in. Here's the link: https://www.svosecure.com/starwoodvo/diamond.jsp?resortID=5

We did fill out the Diamond Lane form about 2 weeks ago. We're still hoping to luck out and get a 2 bedroom lockout rather than just a 2 bedroom, but since RCI had "lost" the reservation, we're just happy to have anything right now! Keep the reviews coming! I'm getting mroe excited each day. Doing the single digit dance now!!!! :cool1:

The lock-out units are only in the Lakes and Cascades (two newest sections).
I truly wish you luck in getting your request. Anything is possible if they have availability. Too strange about RCI losing your ressie ? I'm assuming you still have the ressie # as confirmation ?

Yeah, things are straigthened out now (that's when we finally got a section & room #), but it was a long week with lots of calls back and forth between RCI & Vistana!

*edited* But I suspect there will be a fwe more calls &emails back and forth before we actually leave in a week just to make double certain that everything truel is all set!

We stayed in Fountains Feb. 4-11 and had a great experience! Wouldn't hesitate a bit to return. The Spas had a neat looking pool. The weather was cold our first and last days, but beautiful in between. Yours should be even better. Have a great trip! :sunny:

MiaSRN62,

I'm staying at Vistana Resort in May and I have a question and I'm hoping you'll be able to answer it for me. I would like to sign up for the Diamond Lane, but I can't find a reservation number on my Guest Certificate. Some friends of my husband gave us their week as a present. I have a Guest certificate which lists the owners and my husband as the guest. How would I go about signing up for Diamond Lane?
Thanks,
Darlene

Hi Darlene,
If the Diamond Lane won't accept it if you type in "guest certificate", I'm guessing you'll need to either contact your friends (very nice gift btw !), or call the 800# on the bottom of the Diamond Lane form and ask for assistance. They must have some sort of res# on file.
I'm sorry I can't help you any more than this. Good luck !
