Sheraton Vistana Resort vs. WBC?

Hi,

I know everyone loves WBC and we're thinking of staying there for a trip in early June. But I'm a little apprehensive about the reviews of the worn furniture and less than stellar reviews of the non-rennovated towers. I'm concerned that we'll be disappointed.

Last trip we stayed at one of the Marriott vacation clubs by Sea World and loved the accommodations (We had been considering WBC, but this was practically free). We'd like to stay closer to the parks now and have more kid friendly ammenities, such as fun pools for our 7 and 2 y/o kids.

Does anyone like the Sheraton Vistana Resorts? Are they much further than WBC?

Thanks,

Sarah

Both are great resorts. Vistana units will be a little nicer, but Vistana is a little bit farther away. For the most part, the "common" areas (pools, mini golf, etc.) at Bonnet are better, except the resort store, where Vistana might have a better selection of last-minute items. Depends on what you would want to optimize for. Personally I would go with Bonnet, all things considered.

Hi,

To say that I "like" Vistana is an understatement. lol

I have always wanted to stay at WBC and thought maybe next year would be the year. But my 12 year old son can't just be in the pool/lay out....he loves playing at the basketball courts. He met 2 really nice boys this year that he spent a lot of time with over the week. We were in the Fountains/Lake section of the resort and the courts are right next to the pool.

So this is how the day went for him......start playing bball around 9am, play on and off all day with breaks in the pool or sitting by the pool with a smoothie from the bar or snacks from the A&W/Pizza Hut/KFC. :rotfl: I know, I know, what a life, right?

Every family has different wants/needs and I must say, Vistana fits all of ours and more. But I would still like to try WBC one day. ;)

Good luck with your decision. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Another Vistana lover. Full resort refurbishment completed last summer. All the units are great, so no worries there. It is maybe a couple of miles further away than WBC, but access to the parks is on quicker roadways, so it is probably a wash from a time perspective.

What I really like about Vistana is that there is so much to do on property.

The previous poster noted basketball. That was a very popular location for my teenage son (who is the only child). He made friends at the bball courts as well as volleyball. He LOVED playing voleyball in the Fountains Pool. I enjoyed my poolside massage. (water aerobics is fun as well)
Needless to say, during our stays at Vistana, we took full advantage of all of the ammenities on property. If you're not planning on filling all of your days at the parks, Vistana has quite a bit to offer.

Hmmm - I had not considered Sheraton Vistana before. But with my DS13 only child, it sounds like he might really enjoy it.
Are there great deals for Vistana, like Bonnet Creek?
How would I get the best deal?

Thank you!

I want to thank you all for your advice! I got a great rate at the Vistana through AAA, but I got an even better rate at WBC through Vacation Upgrades. Because we are doing a Disney-centered trip, we chose WBC. Very excited!

Another Vistana fan here. We stayed there in Summer 2010 for our first Disney trip, and I was very pleased with the accomodations and the property. Apparently, this was even before the rennovations in the rooms. The 2 bedroom was so spacious - huge dining room table, breakfast bar, even a screened in patio which worked great for air drying all our pool toys & suits after a swim. There are, I think, 7 different pools, but we spent most of our non-park time at the one with the huge fountain and zero-entry pool which was perfect for our little ones.

Also, if you're concerned about the distance from the park, I don't remember it ever taking more than 10 minutes from our door to the TTC. It was perfect!
