Im sure this question has been asked before; so please indulge me anyway. This is our first trip to Disney that we will be spending a second week off property to just relax and do some other things. So knowing that we won't need to visit Disney Parks week two which of these two properties would you recommend for us? It is my husband, me and our 4 children ages: 14, 12, 9 and 1. I'd appreciate any feedback, advice, details (you name it!). Thanks so much!! I love these boards!

Good morning! I'm sure you've seen the websites for the 2 resorts already. I haven't stayed at either yet, but have reservations for the resort over spring break, so I figured I'd give you my reasons....

I see you have children similar in age to mine. I have a 15, 13 & 11 year old. Last summer we stayed at WorldQuest Resort - my husband and I LOVED it (so quiet and peaceful/beautiful unit and pool) - but the kids didn't - they were bored without anything but a pool.

The Vistana Resort seemed more kid friendly - particularly if you plan on hanging out and "chillin" for a few days. They have 7 pool and lots of kids activities - basketball (my kids all play on 2 teams each), ping pong, shuffleboard, a game room, food & grocery, as well as a kid's mall! I can see us hanging here and everyone being occupied. From what I've heard about the Villages - they are beautiful, but more quiet and secluded.

Have fun!
Wendy

Thanks so much Wendy. I have heard just that since I have been looking into places to stay. Sheraton Vistana Resort it is!! My kids are into basketball too and ping pong so they should have a blast. Enjoy your next trip and I really appreciate your input.

You're welcome - have fun! When are you going?

We'll be there over Easter break - I got a good deal for that week through Discover card. If you have a Discover card you can register on their site. They have a "shop Discover" section that gives you cash back for lots of online shopping. One section is for travel (5% cashback). I got the Vistana Resort for $164 a night (lowest on Travelocity/Expedia for the same dates was $239).:cool1:

We'll be there the around the 3rd week of June. We are staying on Disney property the first week. We are really looking forward to just "chillin" week two at the Vistana after all the running we will be doing at Disney. We have never taken a two week vacation before; so we are looking forward to this. What type of activities does your family have planned for your trip?

It's just a short one (about 5 1/2 days) -- we're doing Universal (have tix for a week), and probably Wet and Wild, then just hanging at the pool....

Well have a great trip and thanks again for the advice!:) :)

Vistana Villages is closer to Sea World and Universal, however The Vistana Resort is very close to I4 and easy to get to everywhere.
I have stayed at both properties in 2 bedroom units. Cascades in the Vistana Resort and Amelia in the Villages. Personally, I love the Vistana Resort, and felt that the Villages were not as good even though they have an upper scale aura about them. I'm going back to the Vistana Cascades Mar 21, 2009, and won't be going back to the Villages.
hope it helps
