Review Sheraton Vistana Resort Questions

I just checked on Google maps walking directions and it appears that this resort is only 2 miles from Downtown Disney. Half of this distance is on Hotel Plaza Blvd which I have walked the entire length of while staying at Saratoga Springs. My question is there sidewalk the entire way along Fl 535? I walk 1/2 marathons so the distance isn't a concern only the safety issue of sidewalks. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I did an aerial walk through with the Google satellite photos and there is indeed a sidewalk all the way to Plaza Blvd. You would need to cross over 535 near the resort because it only goes under I-4 on the other side.

I wouldn't want to make the walk personally - 535 is very busy and at least 6 lanes wide. You would have two freeway ramps to cross over, and the intersection at HPB is EIGHT lanes wide :scared1: If you do walk it be CAREFUL!!!

Thank you. I was concerned about the walk along 535 and crossing the freeway. I walk the entire length of HPB is actually very pleasant.

Does anyone know if the Spas has been renovated or if it will be done by June?

I'm not sure about Spas but it looked like they were working in the Courts section when we were there 2/27 - 3/6.

Hi all.

I put my Diamond Lane form in about a week and a half ago. I can't remember from last time.....do I hear back from them? Should I call? or is it in the computer but you get no verification?

thanks. :)

Hi
were staying for 9 days in april, we booked a week via rci and added on 2 Additional nights, whats the chances of being able to be in one unit, they say they linked our bookings, will we have to move???
our rci week is fri - fri and we booked the wed/ thurs As Extra nights, our rci says courts where as the additional nights say nothing.

Also were travelling with friends (there rci- we do have our own only they had spare weeks) all our names are on the rci booking , were arriving before them , hence the additional 2 nights, will this cause problems booking in, again i rang the resort who linked our bookings but i dont want trouble when we get there as they wont arrive till the sat.( 1 day after the rci check in)
I will have all the paperwork though.

also can we still do diamond lane or is there no point as were checking into our additional nights first??

I received an email a couple weeks before our check-in date.

Thanks for your help. I asked about a Premium 1BR, but, she didn't see any. She may have just been looking based on the rate code I was quoting.

When we were there last year, in a Springs 2BR, we took advantage of the oven, cooking a lot of our meals and it worked out great. I am most interested to know if the "kitchenette" has an oven.

Thanks again. Enjoy your trip.

Well FrankieD and your 3 will be happy to know that the kitchenette does indeed have an oven!

The unit we had for SIL (Cascades 2323) was the smallest 1BR unit floor plan. It was still plenty big enough for 4 if the kids are okay on the sofa bed, and the kitchen had all the features of the full kitchen, only smaller. Both the fridge and stove were apartment sized, but of good quality. The fridge had an ice-maker, and the stove was a smooth top four burner. It had an oven, but don't plan on cooking a turkey dinner in there; maybe 2/3 standard sized.

The two boys found the sofa bed plenty comfortable, and they were all ecstatic about the size of the unit compared to a hotel room. I guess I'm a bit jaded now, because we always take a 2BR unit.

Thank You for the comforting news!! :stitch: I can't wait to get there!

"Apartment size" is plenty room for a 1wk vacation; I can live with that. And my kids have no problems sleeping on the sofa beds. Last year we had 4 kids sleeping on that bed for a couple of nights (their choice, not the parents) and they were quite comfortable.

I hope your vacation went well and you all enjoyed the warm weather. With this late and unexpected spring snow storm we just got hit with today, 154 days seems just too far away.

No snow here in the Ottawa area today, but really missing those temps in the high 80's (er I mean 20's), much better than last March! Gas prices look a lot nicer at $1.20 instead of $3.40 tho. I had almost become accustomed to the announcements of "crashes" on the radio traffic reports too. Only us polite Canadians seem to have "accidents", the 'mericuns just "crash" their cars...

FrankieD, looks like we will be at Sheraton Vistana the same time as you. We are in PA and woke up with 6" of snow today and temps will be in the teens this weekend at night....5 months is a long way from this!

Yes, you can walk and yes, I would say you would feel a bit separated from the Cascades area. There is a separate guard station for each section and a wall/fence partially dividing them. But you can easily walk between the two. Depending on where your villa is located, anywhere from a 2-3 min walk to a 10 min walk if you are in one of the back rooms.

Fountains II is generally the area that is the lighter color and to the right on the map. You can see the small roadway that separates the two on the map. Fountains II has the jacuzzi tub inside the master bedroom (as in the Lakes and Cascades). Fountains I has the whirlpool tub inside the master bathroom.

I would say, yes, you will probably witness/hear some noise from the refurb. I can't imagine the noise will be too much.....but this is a major remodel, so you'll probably see workers all around. They will probably tackle one or two buildings at a time.

Do u mean where can you rent bikes ? I know they rent bikes near the Cascades Rec Center.

I can't help u with this, but I would guess around $10 one way. Maybe someone else has used a taxi and can give u a better idea.

Yes, compared to offsite big chains like Publix, Walmart and Target. You pay for the convenience. But it's good for a few things you might want right away.

The later you return, the harder it will be to find a space CLOSE to your villa it will be. I think the furthest I've ever had to park when we return late is maybe 7-8 spaces away from our door. Generally, we're able to park right in front during the height of the day. Late at night is the toughest. But I've always been able to find a spot.

Hope this helps.
Maria

We are staying at the Vistana Resort in May and it looks like you know a lot about it, so I'll come to you with my questions. :)
I am trying to figure out which section to request. I have it narrowed down to Cascades, Fountains II or Lakes. I'm not sure which pool would be best to be closest to. We have 3 children--ages 10, 7 & 3. I'm not big on the "Lock Out" (or whatever it's called :) ) rooms in the Cascades. We did reserve a 2 bedroom unit. I've heard the 3rd floor units are great in the Fountains II area, but imagining our 3 year old doing 3 flights of stairs numerous times a day doesn't sound too appealing. I do like how the Fountains II & Lakes seems to be more secluded. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!!

I have the following units assigned and am wondering a couple of things.

The first two are Falls252 and Falls206. Are these in the same building? Does anyone know what level they are located on? Is there an elevator in the building?

Additionally, I have Spgs844 and FTN 1577 - does anyone know what level they are located on? Elevator?

My husband and I are staying in the Falls one week and then the Fountain the second week. We will have to move because the first week has a maximum capacity of 6 and the second one is 8. My husband's son is in the other Falls and the Springs and the same issue with maximum people. The first week two of the grandsons are staying with us, but the second week they'll have to go back to mom and & dad's condo (so they will need the maximum 8 condo) as we are getting other guests and we too will need the maximum amount.

I may send into the Diamond lane to see if there is anyway that they could put him in the same one. Ours will not work because it's different check in days.

Anyway, if anyone can answer me about the locations I would appreciate it.

YES! 5 months is a long way away. We're not getting any more snow right now, but, what's here is not going away.

We'll be crashing at Pop Century for 2 days and then heading over to Vistana for a week. This resort rocks and we can't wait to get back there.
