Sheraton Vistana - opinions?

A friend of mine is heading to WDW shortly, and is considering staying at the Sheraton Vistana. I'd like to hear opinions on the resort from anyone that's stayed there recently (in the past couple of months), please. How was the resort affected by the hurricanes? Is the timeshare presentation a high-pressure pitch? What are the rooms like?

My husband and I stayed there in February for 2 nights. It was very nice and clean. The pool area was comfortable. It was easy to find. The grounds were immaculate and spacious. We spent some time just wandering around. The kids in the pool area seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The resort is beautiful. The units there are immaculate, and in really good condition (well...the majority of them are).
The amenities are great-loads of pools, and activities. We really love it there. Have stayed there 3 times. My grandparents have also stayed a couple times (once with us). Each time has been nothing but a good experience. We really love it there and if we didn't have DVC, we'd keep going back.

We have stayed there three times and would be staying there again this year, except the timeshare we have that we trade into only allows a stay at the Vistana once every four years-must be very popular. We have attended the presentation to recieve free sea world tickets and they asked at the beginning of the presentation, who is serious and who is there just for the tickets. We said for the tickets and were given a shortened tour and no pressure at all!!!! Beautiful resort, you feel as if you are in the tropics, gorgeous grounds,lots of fountains and secluded pathways, can be very romantic. Very child friendly, lots of fun pools and playgrounds. They have a couple of restaurants and even a small grocery store, so you do not have to leave if you needed a couple of emergency food items. We stayed in a two bedroom villa with four adults and one child and there was more than enough space for all of us. I highly recommend this resort, and it is very close to WDW, an easy drive to the main entrance, I think it takes about five minutes to drive to the main entrance gate at WDW and you do not have to drive through any really busy or congested shopping and traffic areas. love it.

I just returned on 10/10 from a weeks stay. All of info in the last post is true! The place is gorgeous. As far as we could see, there was very little damage....some siding was ripped off and was being fixed and some small trees and branches were being removed, but nothing major. As for the presentation, we didnt go. When you check in they give you a $40 voucher for attending the presentation. (breakfast is supposedly also included) They told us that if we had to cancel and didnt attend we would be charged $40 to our room account. We never cashed the voucher. On the second to last day of our trip, we had a message on our phone which stated we had to return the voucher in order not to have the $40 charged to the room. However, my wife had already ripped it up. When we checked out, I was all ready to have a fight about the $40 but it was not charged to our room so I just kept my mouth shut. As for the room, we had a 2 bedroom villa in the Cascades section which was very nice. The rooms were a good size, the place was clean, and 5 of us - me, my wife, 2 yo daughter, & in-laws were all in the same villa and didn't kill each other....LOL All in all, it was a very good vacation and I would recommend this resort to anyone who is contemplating staying there.
