My daughter who is 11 and has had numerous Hair wraps before had a BAD experience last week with one.....the girl that works at the pool doing them did it SO TIGHT....she could not move her head sideways the next day...we didn;t notice it at first...or she didn;t mention the problem because she liked the look of it.....BUT te next am she had a huge rash around where she pulled the hair into a tight circular mess to attach the wrap too...she was in tears I had to cut it out right away ......we went down to complain and another girl was working andcalled the owner who WAS the woman who did it...and she asked to speak to me and at first refused to beleive there was a problem and then I had the other girl get on and tell her how bad the rash was etc......and redness...was terrible....they both spoke perfect english but rude went into spanish....to each other.....luckily I know some spanish....they were trying to pass it off as something we did "wrong"..but we did nothing wrong with it...like I said she went to bed and woke up to PAIN....she used some weird gel on her skin no one has ever used before doing one....I have a feeling it was not real clean.....it was gross....after starting to get MAD they finally agreed to refund my money....but it was a BAD experience all in all.......that was the only BAD experience we had there besides at 8 when the restaurant was supposed to open the manager who had the key wasn;t even there yet by 8:10 am....UGH do not EAT on property

sorry your daughter had a problem.

you were there when I was.

was so mad about them closing regular restuarant and putting in a Pizza joint... like they really need a pizza when there is an even better one not too far.

didn't eat there at all.

last time had several meals in their restuarants. won't eat there again until that pizza is gone....

so where were you?

was in fountains II 1614.

also didn't like them closing the lake pool with no warning. since all the lake guests came to the fountain pool. I avoid the place those days - been there before and it can be a mad house.

Sorry your daughter (and you) had a bad experience -- hope she's feeling ok now.

I do think it was rude for the employees to speak Spanish in your presence. Glad you were able to translate a bit!! I would report them to their managers (if possible).

What's the big deal with hair wraps, anyways? I see the stands all over the place, and have never known anyone want to get one. I'm a guy, so I know I have no interest...but still, just curious what the "draw" is.

Hope the rest of the trip was great!

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience with your daughters hair wrap. It is the best one we have ever had and we get them 2 times a year for the last 3.5 years.

for the pre-teen and even some teens - it is the 'in' thing to do. my niece actually waited over an hour for one at WL (staying at VWL). so they definitely want these things and will wait for them. She actually paid for it herself. they seem to grow out of them late teens.

I think it's just a girl thing.

I was at the Sheraton Vistana Villages actually.....sorry for the mixup.....they are the thing to get for the pre teens.....they are about $35 and last abour 6-8 weeks....till they either fall out or look ratty

You can get a KLUTZ book hairwrapping and do you own. My DD and nieces love it when we do their hair and it lasts just as long. My daughter got the book in her easter basket a few years ago and stills drags it out every once in a while to have me wrap her hair.

To the OP, sorry your daughter was in pain over this. That is not acceptable. You were correct to ask for a refund. Can't figure out why they would put gel in her hair for this?:confused3

We had DD done last year at the Outlet mall and it only cost me $22 which was much cheaper then the ones at Disney and they had different wrapping style, they put designs in them. If she wants them done again I probably will get it done their. Her hair is just past shoulder length. OP so sorry that your daughter had to have this experience. TTFN Kat

WOW - my daughters lasted a long time but not THAT long....maybe I will let them do it again at Citiwalk....any chance you remember how much $? Its been awhile...

Karen,
While I've never stayed at the Vistana Villages, the matter in how your dd's experience was handled was not acceptable. So sorry she went through the pain she did.

You also mentioned, "ugh...do not eat on property". Can you elaborate on this ?

Also, did u contact the resort manager about the hair issue ? I would contact them because I'm sure they have some sort of say over whether these hair wrappers are allowed to remain at the resort. Please let us know if you decide to follow-up. Would hate to see other kids and parents have to go through this.

Maria.............I did march right up stairs with the hair wrap girl to get the total taken off our bill and told the manager on call what happened....She didn;t seem to care much though....as far as the food there ....like I said they opened at 8 am and we wnated a quick cup of coffee and a muffin nothing BIG before hitting Seaworld and we went in after 8 ....no coffee brewing they told me the manager there hadn;t come in with the key YET to open the safe to get at the food....I just found that so annoying.....and then I tried to order a hamberger and hot dog by the pool and they said well we don;t have amy hamburgers left so go inside and order which is more $$$$ and S L O W.......so I wouldn;t eat there ....unless I had to....the burger was so over done but we were by then starved..........so we ate it....just drive a few miles down the street and eat else where....tons of choices in the area...we went to Publix and stocked up on deli meat and salad so when we were just hanging by the pool we could get something back at the room--- the room was nice though

Karen,
I am sorry again about what happened. Did u ever get the hair wrap charge removed from your bill ? Regardless, the issue needs to be addressed about the services offered at the resort and I'm referring to the hair wrap. If this woman is unsafe in the way she performs the wrap, then she should not be allowed to do business at the resort.
I am working on getting a name of someone higher up you can complain to. I'm going through the owner's site. Not sure if I'll get anywhere with this, but I'll post here if I do.
Take care,

Why do get feeling that we talking about putting braids or cornrows some hair for whole lot money. If understanding this right. If I need come WDW start doing hair because i can make whole alot money.

Karen,
I did get a address you can write to about the hair wrap lady. Let them know it was at the Villages and what dates. If you have a reservation number that you checked in under, include that as well in the letter.

Good luck.
