we are staying 1 night at this hotel before we move on to royal pacific. would like to hear opinions from folks who have stayed here. and also suggestions on walking distance dinning. thanks

I haven't stayed there yet myself, but we will be there this Sunday! So, I have been reading a lot of the reviews and it seems that everyone lately has left good reviews!! Plus, we are staying there free on Starwood points, so that makes it even better.

Here are a few of the latest reviews:

Here is a review site that lists restaurants within walking distance (look towards bottom of page).

Stayed there about a year ago. It is in a great location. The hotel itself is nice. Nice pool with a short enclosed slide.

My only recommendation to you would be to make sure you are NOT on the top floor of the building that the lobby is in. There are conference rooms there that they set up and take down all night...very noisy with carts filled with glasses and plates bounce by outside your room.

They have the Heavenly beds which are really nice...there are baby alligators in the lobby tank...my son liked checking them out every time we were in the lobby.

There are a lot of restaurants nearby, but I am drawing a blank at this moment. I do know that there is a Pizza Hut in the parking lot and a Dunkin Donuts right across the street for good coffee in the a.m.

Have fun!

thanks for the tip. i know i will take advantage of the dunkin doughnuts.

I have a question about the Sheraton Safari. Is there a shuttle from the airport to the hotel? Is it free or is there a charge for this. I understand that they have free shuttles to WDW but I wondered about airport shuttles. My sister will be staying there in August.

They do not have a free shuttle to/from the airport -- very few Disney area hotels do. They may have a pay shuttle. Your sister should contact the hotel directly for info.

As of last summer at Sheraton Safari:

Orlando International Airport Shuttle:
Every hour on the half hour from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm.
Cost is $15.00 per person one way (two person minimum).
Reservations required at least 4 hours in advance.

I believe there's a Steak n Shake and a Tony Roma's within walking distance. It's a nice place to stay.

I'm happy to read the great reviews! I'm staying at the Sheraton Safari this Friday night, also on Starwood points, because the Swan and Dolphin are completely booked.

We stayed at the Sheraton Safari for a couple of nights about 2 years or so ago and found it to be quite nice . Not outstanding and not in the best position , but pleasant and the pool is nice.

There are a few places to eat nearby , but the only one that springs to mind is a Perkins which is only a short walk away

As already mentioned, there is a pizza hut right in the parking lot and the dunkin donuts. There is also an Oliver Garden across the street. A little beyond is the Crossroad with lots of resturants such as Fridays, Perkins, Chevy's, Red Lobster, etc. There is also an IHOP diagonally across. Up the road a little is the Tony Romas and the Steak and Shake.

If you walk up Palm Parkway a little you have the Hooters, a japanese steakhouse, Cici's pizza and a bunch of others.

I just got back from a quick trip to FL, and 1 night at the Sheraton Safari. I was hardly in my room, because as soon as I checked in and dropped off my suitcase, I drove to WDW! I got back to the hotel at midnight and checked out by 8:30 the next morning. The bed was very comfy!
