We stayed here for 12 nights and overall wasn't exactly impressed with it's four star rating.

The staff, like at most places were excellent, but the problems we had overall during our stay was with their very own transportation system, 'FLEETWOOD' - who were at times - terrible! and I wouldn't recommend whatsoever.

For the first five days we had a room on the fourth floor at the front of the hotel similar to the one below (which is a pool-side view) - our surprise here was the noise from the main road outside. Not only that, but we were woken up during the early hours purely because the room's windows were not double-glazed.

On the fifth day the hotel introduced outside a large air-conditioning generator so we was given a pool-side room for the remainder of our vacation, the last day of which saw the toilet in our bathroom overflow causing a flood, but this was dealt with by staff quickly.

The hotel is clean and the restaurant and bar great! - as I have said, the only moan was down to the transportation, either it was expensive compared to the infamous Checker Cabs or they just never turned up at all to pick us up and the sound of local traffic etc.

Seriously, I wouldn't recommend it. It's good but just not that good.

I just want to be clear that the ONLY reason you've given this hotel the "Thumbs down" is because of the shuttle service?

That seems harsh, particularily for a hotel that is great in every other respect. I would have simply warned guests that "we'd recommend a vehicle to fully enjoy this resort".

That's correct. I think that was the only real let-down overall, along with the sound of the road noise and being awaken at 4am on a couple of occasions - and that's only because as mentioned before, no double glazing.

NOTE: - The entertainer with his puppet deserves to be mentioned because he was great and friendly throughout our stay and happy to talk to us whenever he could.

I would give them a thumbs down for the noise issue. If this hotel REALLY is a four star then they should have better noise proofing.

The Shearton was built as a Days Inn. While it was a NICE Days Inn, it is still a Days Inn. Days Inn doesn't spend money on noise proofing.

(I have never stayed here since it became the Shearton. I can't see paying those prices for that former Days Inn room I paid $25 for LOL!)

You had me worried there for a minute as I am staying there in Dec. But will have a car for the time.

Starwood rates the Safari catagory 2, while the Dolphin is a catagory 4. So will have lower expectations.

The room looks great.

Thanks for the info.

We have stayed here and thought it was great..no problems whatsoever and I certainly wouldnt give a place a thumbs down because of the transportation..heck many of the hotels in this area use those "other' companies for shuttles etc. and they are not that good for anyone

Noise proofing too..problems in many hotels..

This hotel is only rated a 3* most places so I would not expect it to be equal to a resort type hotel

Well i have stayed in quite a few of hotels in and around the orlando area , :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
It's a clue!!!! it's a clue!!!! Most of there so called shuttle /bus services stink! :guilty: but i think it's rather harsh to give it a thumbs down.I stayed in Sheraton safari this past July and yes it is a 3 star hotel i am not sure who ever told you it was a 4 need's to look more than at one web site. But if you bit into it was a 4 star than the niki bird must be a 4 star resort :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The noise problem was the real surprise overall.

It actually felt like the room for our first five nights there our balcony door was open.

After we moved to a poolside room the sound of the road noise could be heard but wasn't a real problem, although I was woken around 4am by the bleep of a truck reversing - which no doubt had to be in front of the hotel.

For those staying in this hotel in the future - I'd ask in advance for a room at the back of it.
