Sheraton Safari--how far from Animal Kingdom?

Hello---this is my first post and I am planning my first trip to Disneyworld!

We are using points and staying at the Sheraton Safari, and was wondering if anyone had stayed there, and if they could estimate the time needed to get to AK from there. We are having breakfast at Tusker House on the first morning of our trip, and I want to make sure that we get there in plenty of time!!

According to Google Maps, the distance between Sheraton Safari and Animal Kingdom is 8.5 mi – about 17 minutes by car.

There are quite a few traffic lights between the Sheraton Safari location and the Animal Kingdom. I'd give it around 20 minutes for the drive over and add a few minutes to park and make your way from parking to the park and then to Tuskers (the restaurant is near the rear left side of the park - in Africa - from the entrance).

Depending on traffic, it can be anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes to get to AK from there. After that, you have to allow time to park, walk, go thru bag check, go thru the turnstile & then walk to Tuskers. Allow yourself at least 45 minutes from the hotel...if not more to be on the safe side.

That hotel is a nice place. I stayed there a few years ago. They have a slide at their pool.. my DD's loved it. It is walking distance to many places to eat, like Olive Garden & Ci-Ci's, Wendy's, Burger King, Hooters...just to name a few.

Thanks, everyone. Especially the good words about the hotel. I have been debating endlessly on moving to a Disney property for the full effect, but we are using points, and it is hard to justify, even with all the great deals floating around!

We have stayed at the Sheraton Safari twice, and we absolutely love it! They have a terrific breakfast buffet at a reasonable price (I think it was $8.95 per adult last time, and kids eat free!) I know you have Tusker House for one breakfast but for the other breakfasts during your stay, this is a great value. The food is very good, fresh squeezed orange juice, etc.

Avoid the temptation to eat breakfast next door at the Sizzler...putrid!

We used coupon for a $3.99 buffet at the Sizzler next door a few days ago and thought it fine. We stayed at the Sheraton on a Hotwire rate last Saturday. One side of the hotel faces a busy road so if you are sensitive to noise ask for a room facing the side or the pool. We had a pool view room and there was noise until about 11pm. By the way, the night we were there they were overbooked by 30 rooms but that was Christmas.
