Has anyone stayed there lately? I have not been there for years and what I do remember is that it was a nice hotel.

thanks for any info.

We have never stayed at the Sheraton Safari. But, we will be staying there in August 2008 for three nights, for FREE.

We are using StarPoints through my American Express Starwoods Preferred Guest Card. When you open a new account, you receive 10,000 points plus 2,500 points for a second card. That amount is enough for 3 nights at the Sheraton Safari. You receive 1 point for every $1 you charge on the card. 3,000 to 4,000 points is usually enough to qualify for a FREE hotel room. Also, there is a $45 annual fee, but that's still a bargain for 3 nights.

I would say it is on OK place...not up to Sheraton standards IMHO but it is not awful either. The main issue seems to be service related....everytime we have stayed there (3 times in the past 3 or 4 years on Starwood points) we have had to wait for a room....long check in lines every time, rooms not ready by 4 PM so people congregate in the lobby every afternoon waiting on rooms. Weak housekeeping that was either banging on the door at 7:30 wanting to clean the room or never showed up at all....did not do a great job when they did come. The pool area is nice and the kids always loved the water slide. Good Sheraton beds and bedding. Carpets and furniture were looking a little tired the last time we were there....it is a good location and it shows up a lot on Priceline at a reasonable price and it is a good bargain using Starwood points, but no way would I pay rack rates there.

Stayed there in July for only 1 night, before our WDW ressies.
It was fine. About like a moderate on property, with a large snake (python I believe) waterslide. Room decor needs updating (the Graceland Jungle Room motiff is a bit out of style), but the room was clean, and everything worked.

Would not hesitate to stay there again, if need be.

thanks everyone. I get a pretty decent discount through my work so I thought I would go back there again.

I will have to look into the Starwood points thing. thanks again for all the info.
