A friend of mine is looking at staying here for 2 nights, and i told her i would come to the all knowing DIS crew for help for her....... anyone have any exp. with this place -- good , bad or indifferent? :confused3

Specifically, she wants to know how the beds are.. :lmao: She stayed at the dolphin last year, and LOVED their beds so much, she went home and bought one! :)

This was my 4th stay and was great as usual, though VERY short. Didn't check in til 11pm and was out by 10am. Anyway, I've always had a good experience with this hotel. Staff has always been accommodating, rooms clean and in good shape. I believe their beds are also Heavenly Beds like the Dolphin has since it's also a Sheraton. BTW, got this on Priceline for $45 - a steal!!!

Enjoy!!! :goodvibes

We did a priceline bid also for around $40 for a one night stay in January 2005 and really enjoyed it. We are returning next month for a week and this time have booked a suite using Starwood points (Sheraton Frequent Guest program). Very kid friendly with a "snake" water slide, big pool, safari theming, kids eat free buffet breakfast. They do have the "Heavenly" beds, which are great after a long day of touring. Only complaints I've "heard" are:

  1. Located at busy intersection, so some rooms have views of gas stations, fast food restaurants, etc. Of course, others saw this as a positive because of easy access to carry-outs and eating.
  2. Pets allowed. So those sensitive to animals (I think the review I read the lady's son had asthma) might be impacted.
  3. Room Service trays/trash left in hallway too long.
  4. Slow elevators (of course, it's only a few stories tall, so walking is an option for most people)

Personally, we thought it was a great value. It won't have the same high-end ambiance of the Swan or Dolphin, but you aren't paying the same high-end cost as those hotels either. But she will still like the beds.:)

Thanks so much! I printed out your comments to give to my friend..She is thinking of booking here with her Starwood points as well, it is a LOT less points than the dolphin/swan, and it's only for 2 nights.. But i know she loves those beds! LOL

It is a lot less on Sheraton points. Our 600+ sq foot suite is 4,500 points on weekend nights and 5,500 points weeknights versus 10,000 points a night for a regular room at the Swan/Dolphin. She'll probably get a "Preferred Starwood Guest" room then, which would be room with a view of the pool area on levels 2 or higher.

I double checked. Sheraton properties (including the Safari) actually have the "Sweet Sleeper" beds and Westin properties have the "Heavenly" beds. Since they are both owned by Starwood, I think it's more of a marketing thing, as we've really enjoyed the beds at all the Starwood properties we've stayed at.

Here's the Sweet Sleeper:

Here's the Heavenly bed:

Thanks again everyone! I have relayed all this info to her!
