Sheraton Mission Valley vs. Howard Johnson Inn San Diego Sea World

Ok, I need a little help. We are planning our first trip to the West Coast. It will be me, dh, ds7 and ds5. We are going to spend 3 nights in San Diego, and are planning to go to Sea World and San Diego Zoo. Here is my dilemma. I have reservations at:

Howard Johnson Inn San Diego Sea World - $109.33 per night, free parking, free continental breakfast.

3330 Rosecrans Street
Midway Drive & Rosecrans St
San Diego, CA 92110 US

OR

Sheraton Mission Valley San Diego Hotel - $113.05 per night, $12 parking per day, no breakfast included.

1433 Camino Del Rio South ·
San Diego , California 92108

Which one would you pick. I guess I am more interested in which area is better and more convenient for us, we will have a rental car.

I'd go with Howard Johnson. There are tons of restaurants within walking distance, as well as grocery stores. And it's only a 5-minute drive over to Sea World.

Have you tried Trip Advisor dot com to get a review of either hotel? That is usually the deal breaker for me.

yes, I tried trip advisor, the reviews were somewhat mixed for both of them, although the Sheraton is slightly better on the reviews. I just wanted to see if anyone who is familiar with the overall area could give me some pointers.
