Do you feel your parents try to shelter you from things?

Sometimes my parents get upset if they find out who I am with.
I mean if I wanted to have sex, drink, and do drug, I would.
Not letting me go somewhere wouldn't stop me.

EDIT:
I wish they would trust me because I've never given them a reason not to.
But I understand they are trying to protect me because otherwise I guess I could become wild.

I've always had a lot of freedom. I don't know if that was a good thing or not.

Hm I guess that is a good point.
If I had a lot of freedom I probably would be really wild.

My parents are pretty strict.
I mean, some things I can understand them being strict about.
Like, they won't let me go into the city by myself with friends. I can understand that, I'm only 16, and NYC is a very big place.
But not letting me have sleepovers because they think I'm going to drink? When have I ever come home drunk, or implied that I drink? Never.
And not letting me go out on school nights, when my grades are fine.

I wish they'd loosen up a little bit.

my parents monitor who im hanging out with very closely. if my parents think my friends do drugs, have sex, or are simply too geeky, they dont want me talking to those people and make my life hard when i keep hanging out with them anyways

They always think I'm gonna drink or something but I never have.

They also have problems sometimes with my guy friends.

Not really. My parents have always been pretty relaxed.

I've also never given them reason to worry, I think I'd laugh hysterically if they didn't want me to do something because I might drink. They obviously wouldn't know me very well then.

My parents basically let me make my own mistakes and find out things for myself. I don't know they raised me in a way that I know what's stupid and I'm going to be smart about a lot or things yet there are still things I am going to do that my not be smart. Idk, it's hard to explain.

Mine are relaxed to a point. They gave up on sheltering me because that's very hard to do.

it's a mixture my mum is trys to shelter me while my dad doesn't really care

but as i'm getting older i'm able to be allowed to do alot more

like i can go to london whenever i want But i have to be home before it's dark so i'm still shelted a little bit

I'm pretty sheltered... My parents are really paranoid, so that's why, I guess. Even though I'm a straight-A student, never done anything bad, etc, they think if I say I'm going to the library for a bit they think I'm going to someone's house to get stoned or whatever.

I dunno. It's pretty annoying...

They have issues like, in September/October, when it starts getting darker earlier.
Like they want me home BEFORE it gets dark, which is like 7 in Oct, so there's not point in going out really. And it's lame to be like 'Yeah my parents are forcing me to come home at 7.'
And they have issues with me having guys over when they're not home.
Which I wouldn't have any over anywayss..

But I do.

I think my parents have always been a little more relaxed with me.
My sister not so much, but she does need to be tied down.

As for me Im not into the whole drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, drama thing.

I like living in my own little world where everything's good and pure.
I don't need that stuff.

my parents just had this kind of talk to me like yesterday.

They don't understand that I don't drink, don't smoke, and
im not near ready to have sex. Its like they think
that since im only 14, I'm unable to say NO!

I've said no before, when i've had friends ask for me
to go somewhere, when I knew there was going to
be drinking and most likely not a designative driver.
And I straight up said No, and if you was really my friend
you wouldn't put me in this kinda situation.

Just because were teenagers and our friends do.
Does not mean, that we automatically have to do it all...

I have limitations like I can't curse in front of my parents, but I think thats for pretty much everybody, and I usually can't stay out any later than like 12 or 1. Depends on their mood or what I am doing the next day. They are a little strict because they think I would do drugs or smoke, but there is no way I would ever do it because I think it is nasty.

I LOVE my parents. They haven't sheltered me at all and I turned out fine. I guess it depends on the morals and what they teach you when you're little. They didn't want me to be blind to all the things going on in the world.

My cousin's parents are BEYOND anything I have ever seen when it comes to sheltering. The 3 kids, which are in middle school, can't watch rudolph the red nosed reindeer because of the FAKE abominal snowman.
