Sheet Count ????

I bought a 300 count sheet set and they pilled up !!

I thought the higher the count the better the sheet.

Can anyone suggest a good no-pilling sheet ??

What type of fabric were they? That can make as much difference as the thread count.

We bought muslin once, never again.

I prefer Egyptian cotton for durability, and it seems to get softer with each washing but still stay crisp if that makes any sense? I've also got a set of Pima cotton which seem to be holding up nicely. I've actually been using them more often, because they are "striped" so I can figure out which way to put them on the bed the first timea round.

I have become a thread count snob . LOL. I have 1000 thread count on my bed now, and they are hevenly. They don't pill, and are so soft. I get them from overstock.com. Right now they have a 1000 thread count set for $100. Not much more then what I paid at Linens n Things for a 450.

The package said cotton cant remember what kind of cotton.
I just know I cant stand sheets that pill.

The Overstock 1000 thread count may be about the same thing as the Linens n Things 450 thread count. You have to look at the yarn used. For example, the Overstock sheets say "Woven from 100-percent cotton using multi-ply yarns for a 1000 thread count". If Overstock's sheets use two-ply yarn, then it really is equivalent to about a 500 thread count sheet that uses single-ply yarn. If Overstock uses a four-ply yarn, then it is about the same thing as 250 thread count using single-ply yarn. I'm not saying whether this is bad or good, I just think you have to be able to compare them to other brands. You have to know if they are using single-ply or multi-ply yarn, what type of cotton, etc.

I bought DS 350 count pima cotton for his bed. They are very soft but they pilled up in the washer a little.

I have lower count Calvin Klein sheets and they are just the best. They get softer with each washing.

I love good sheets!

The best sheets I have found for the $$$ are from Bed Bath and Beyond...

they are the "Sateen Stripe Sheet Sets, 100% Cotton, 320 Thread Count"

They are SOOO soft and no pilling. The only "complaint" I have is that they are for a deeper mattress than the one I have.

But, at $60 for a king-size set, they're the only ones I buy now.

Yes! Didn't read the article but *know* it must be so. My Mom gave me a *wildly high* thread count of sheets that cost a fortune and after just one washing they felt like burlap!!!

I like the "stripes" too...I hate trying to figure out which side is up on the sheets!!! Anything to make life easier!

And, I'm glad to know you think they're better than higher priced sheets too...I hate spending a fortune on sheets, but I've GOT to have something SOFT! I've been really impressed with these!!

I purchased a set of 300 or 400 ct sheets, but when I washed them, they came out soft, but also really wrinkled. I felt like I had to iron them before I put them on the bed. I didn't like that. I like sheets that are real crisp.
