Anyone else having the shedding problem right now? My dog is losing enough hair to make a small poodle a day! I swear the other day he was lying still and as I watched him a big tuft of hair popped out of his side and fell on the floor! It's getting to the point I don't even bother to vacuum, I can just walk around and pick up the blobs with my hands. He constantly sheds all year long, but this is just over the top. He's got more of a fluffy than oily coat. And when he shakes "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"

I know what you mean. I can't stand the dog hair. I vacuum at least twice a day and it doesn't even look like I do. I love my dog but can't stand the dog hair.

My dog has been doing the same thing. I was actually thinking, "What has my son done to this dog now?!" I guess I've forgotten how much she sheds at the end of the summer!

Yes! Toby is shedding like crazy. I thought their coats were supposed to start getting heavier pretty soon. I take him outside and rub him all over to get some of the hair off.

Our dog (part Lab/part Cocker Spaniel) is black, and our kitchen floor is white. As you can probably imagine, the floor looks bad much more often than it looks good. In fact, I usually put him outside or in his crate about 10 minutes before company is expected and sweep so that they'll at least see that I can clean a floor. I get used to him shedding a lot, but any time we have overnight guests, they're constantly amazed that he has such a full coat when the floors are covered in his hair.

I picked Hunter up at the kennel Monday after being gone of 2 weeks. I gave him a bath immediately upon returning home. I could not believe the hair that came out and is coming out. Like you said, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Bathing them loosens the hair a lot. Tons more comes out after that.

We have a contraption that looks like a saw. You fold it around and hook the handle together. I take her outside and just start raking. It works wonders. It gets more out than the brush does.
And, I've read here and in the paper that rubber gloves works great to get dog hair off of furniture. you just put them on and rub the couch.

Oh, and this does happen twice a year, every year.

Living in Phoenix our Lab mix never quite got a coat change, but this being our second year here HOLY COW! She is shedding in huge tufts. At first I was afraid something was wrong, but she passed her check up with flying colors. We take her outside and use an "undercoat rake" on her and it helps.

Alaskan Malamute owners here, not giving any advice other than get a good shop vac:rolleyes:

Let me assure you when "Mystic Mountain Shadow" decides to shed you better hang on cause it will fill a plastic grocery bag every day !

This is why we have a Bichon!

I love labs, but DS has an immediate alergic reaction the minute he's in the same room with one.
