Just bought one for my Coone cat. Works pretty good! He loves being combed & it gets off lots of dead hair. The only downside, is you need to keep a wastebasket near as you are always throwing away lots of hair.

I bought a shedding blade for my dog the other day and it does a great job! I didn't realize a lab had so much hair.

It is a comb. It gets deep into the hair so you pull a lot of the "dead" hair off from close to the skin. It also worked pretty good at getting the knots off my long haired cat.

I almost bought one yesterday @ bed bath & beyond, but was talked out of it by my MIL...

Shenzi, however, does not like to be brushed...in fact she would rather eat the brush, so would it be a useless tool...? She's shedding like mad right now...hair everywhere!
