she wants to be in a beauty pageant!

someone put my 12 year old on a mailing list and she was solicited for a pre teen pageant. she wants to enter.

the fee is $25. the contest is in august in northern NJ, not an expensive trip.

anyone have any experience with preteen pageants?

I think she is so young to get started in pageants. I had lots of friends from college that were pageant girls. The enter fee may only be $25.00 but everything else will costs lots of $$$.

Also, you think the cheerleading world is cut throat, let me tell you inside the pageant contest world these girls/women can be ruthless. Good thing your an attorney SB!

On the upside, she could really make some good friends, have a fun experience and possibly win a scholarship. I had a few friends that took things very seriously and a couple who were in it for the cash for school solely.

I think it might be fun if she doesn't take it too seriously. she probably already has the clothes she needs.

I will be interested to hear how it goes. I wonder what they are wearing these days?! I used to be hip but somehow I think I have lost it somewhere!

It really could turn out to be a great experience. I would look for pageants with scholarship awards. Those seem to fair better than others.
