I can't believe this! A while back (September) I posted about how my kid wasn't invited to a neighbors b-day party when all the other kids in the neighborhood were.
Flash-forward to today. DD and I were out passing out invitations to her birthday party. We stop at the neighbor girl's house to drop off her invitation. Neighbor girl isn't there so we leave it with her dad for her.

A couple houses later we're at my DD's friends house. Her friend has a playdate over - the neighbor girl. DD gives her friend the invite. Friend says hey neighbor girl, she (DD) just invited me to her birthday party.

Neighbor girl says (okay as snooty as a 6 year old can get) "that's nice - too bad I didn't get invited"

Of course instead of some comment about payback being a b****, I told her that we left one at her house for her.

That's what I was taught too. But I also had parents on a very tight budget so only my 11th birthday party was a friends party. It was a huge party combined with my cousins party at a roller skating rink. Much fun and yes, I did invite everyone!
