Sharpies or fabric pens for autographs?

This will be my first trip with my son and I have never done character autographs before. I am hoping to have the characters autograph a t-shirt for him. Is it better to use sharpies or fabric pens on a shirt that will be washed and worn? Are the fabric pens actually filled with fabric paint? And if so, does it take time for the signature to dry?

Any other autograph tips would be appreciated.

TIA,
Rhonda

We always use a sharpie. It's dry right away so no worries there. It's washes and dries great! Just make sure you hold the t-shirt tight for the characters to sign. It's a bit hard for them to sign on shirts sometimes unless you are at a character meal where they can bear down on something.

Hi Mommie2angels,

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering where your avtar came from? Is it something I could use? I also have seen a mickey face in the sky made uo if clouds. Is there a web-site to find these?

Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi there
Just a thought. Our trip in April I bought my dd5 a white bucket type hat from Target $2.99. and we used the new fat sharpies in colors. There was no problem with it and she has a great souvenier. I think we will start a new one for our nest trip as we are going to add universal into the mix. Have a great time!

Daisylove,

Where did you find "fat sharpies"? What exactly are they called? Great idea about the bucket hat. My DS loves to wear those.

TIA,
Rhonda

The ones we used are actually called " Bic 4x4 Grip permant marker." They are FAT markers. In red, green, blue and black. The characters used them fine. and it made the hats more colorful. I got mine at Office Max. $3 something. Today I saw a set of sharpie colored markers not as fat but you know sharpies at target set of 4 with free metallic one for also 3 something. My DD 's hat is probably her most fave thing from our trip. It was also her b-day so some signed special messages to her and she wears it all the time. Have fun!

Just make sure whatever you choose is easily removable as the characters cant sign anything on a person hats *may* be okay but shirts have to be in hand not on-

Don't they have fabric Sharpie pens? I heard they are better than regular Sharpie because the T-shirt doesn't fade when you wash it.

I plan to get autographs on a T-shirt in the fall, and I'm going to use an embroidery hoop to hold the fabric taut. I think that will make it easier for the characters to sign, and it has the added advantage of letting me pick the spot.

We use Sharpie pens in all the colors! After a few years they fade...but then it is time to go back.
