Hello! In the past, my DH and myself have referred a few people to DVC. Anyhow, when I log in with my account, they never show. My DH doesn't have a DVC login, but apparently the rewards have always been under his name. Eventually, they've always sent us a redemption card. We've marked what we'd like, and they mail it to us. I know we need to get my DH registered, but we just never have. First of all, he is behind times :rotfl: and just actually got his own email address within the last year.

For the first time ever, I actually have a reward listed in my account for my friend who bought while on a cruise with us for spring break.:cool1: However, some other friends bought also but while at WDW during the same time frame and listed us as their referrals as well. Their referral doesn't show in my account, and I'm assuming it may be in my husband's like the past ones have been. When I view my past rewards, I don't see anything even though I know we've had them within the last year. My question is.....if the reward is under my husband's name but is our level 2 reward, will it still count as a level 2 since our most recent level 1 is under my account?

I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Susan

It should as long as the master account number is the same. If you do not see it soon, you should call your guide and have them check into it.

There is a girl that handles all of the rewards. Call MS and asked for her phone number.

So I called, and they won't give me the phone number.:headache: They directed me to a "new website" which is really just the current DVC member website with the contact section already pulled up. It, of course, wouldn't allow me to email in my question, so I'm back to square one. Member services did take down my info and said they'd have someone call me, but I'm not totally convinced I'll get the call.

I did find out the name of the lady that takes care of the referrals, but I didn't get a phone number. If anyone has it, I'd appreciate it. We've had trouble with several referrals, and it is quite frustrating to say the least. Thanks for any help!

Just an update on what has happened since I first called member services about our Sharing the Magic referral. First of all, they still won't give me a phone number for anyone that is in charge of the rewards. They just keep telling me they don't see a referral from the friends that bought. (I know that! That's why I'm calling!):) The person that was supposed to get in contact with me never has. I called back again today thinking that maybe if I talked to someone else, I'd get more help. So, the person I talked to today was also kind of clueless about who was even in charge of the referral rewards, which department they needed to call, and even who my own guide was. He went down a list of guides names (one was our original guide who is no longer with the company, the second was the guide for one of my friends that bought in March, and the final one was actually our guide).

So, I had him connect me to my guide. My guide returned my call within a couple of hours, and she said that she can't do anything about our referral not showing up. It has to be done on the end of the people we referred.

I spoke with my friend again today, and she is furious with Disney.:furious: She not only filled out the form to have us listed as her referral, but she has also called member services since they've been home to make sure we were listed as her referrals. They told her it would be taken care of. Still no luck.

I guess my question is....what can we do, or can we do anything at all? I love my DVC but this is so frustrating to have to deal with this mess every time we refer someone.

Thanks for letting me vent and for any advice.

It has to be handled by the guides is my understanding, so based on what you learned so far, I think your refer-ee friend is going to have to speak with her guide to get it resolved for you. I'm guessing her guide (isn't her guide your guide - that's how our referrals have always worked) didn't turn in the appropriate paperwork.

I think you are right--her guide must not have turned it in correctly. My friend is sailing on the Fantasy again in three weeks, so if her guide is still onboard she plans to corner him. Lol!

We've only ever had one referral and we ran in to this exact situation. Our friends put our names everywhere they were suppose to their guide knew our names had it in her records/notes and everything. I called my guide asking why I didn't see the reward showing up and he told me since our friends didn't go through him they would have to speak to their guide. Ok, no problem although I felt like he could help me a little more I understood. They called their guide and she basically couldn't believe the referral wasn't going through. Realize now it had been two months since they had closed, had their points, and booked vacations.

At this point I was getting a bit hopeless we'd see the referral since I wasn't getting a straight answer from member services or the guides, but our friends guide was very understanding and told our friends she'd work on it. A few weeks go by and I don't hear anything. At this point I no longer wanted to bother my friends about it and I went to their guide directly which my guide said would be completely fine and gave me her phone number. She literally bent over backwards to get me the referral. She knew our friends were referred by us and had no clue why it wasn't noted. She could see it on their contracts and everything. She did say there was one woman/person who could approve a referral after a contract had closed without one being noted, and no I wasn't allowed to speak to them, or have their number :sad2:. My friends guide worked on this for almost 2 more months(she was on a few cruises in that time) to get it pushed through, but we did eventually get it. It was to late for the vacation we were planning on using it for, but we did wind up getting it.

One thing I heard from both guides was that if the person your are referring has done any sort of phone presentation or attended a presentation before your referral and did not purchase at that time they are in the system as not being referred. Meaning they looked in to it themselves first and while you convinced them to buy that first interest overrides your referral even on the contract. This is where that referral lady you can't get a hold of comes in to play to approve the referral incentive to your account.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. It took me almost 6 months to finally receive my giftcard. I hope you get yours a lot faster :goodvibes

I would send an email to Ken Potrock the new executive in charge of DVD/DVC. He needs to know that there is a problem.

This is correct. In order for a referral to be recognized, it must be noted at the very first point of contact with DVC. That includes watching a webcast (for the free litho), requesting a DVD or print materials, touring the model rooms--ANY contact with DVC where names are provided.

DVC has records going back many years. An individual who requested a brochure from the DVC website 10 years ago--and hasn't had any contact with DVC since--is already in the system. If that individual buys now, no referral would be accepted unless the name was given when the brochure was ordered a decade ago. Even if the name is listed in the buyer's closing paperwork.

DVC views the referring member as the individual who introduced the buyer to DVC. A member could spend hours answering questions and convincing someone to buy, but there will be no reward unless the member's name was given at first point of contact.

All of that said, there have been situations in the past where referral notations have mysteriously disappeared from DVC's records. When a sale is made that involves a referral, credit is typically shared by the Guide closing the deal and the Guide whose member gave the referral. I'm aware of situations where the referring member is convinced their name was deleted so that the selling sales Guide could get full credit. Most of the time, the referring member and the buyer both have the same Guide so this is a non-issue.

The most frequent issue with referrals is the first scenario above--buyer made some contact with DVC years ago and there was no referral mentioned. In that case, the member isn't eligible for a reward.

I did a tour before I bought in 2009 and did the referral for a friend and they received the credit. Not to say Tim is wrong, I think his is correct, I just think this is an example of inconsistency on DVC's part. Surprise, surprise!

Do you know what email address I would send it to? Thanks, Bill!

I think I may have finally got ahold of someone that could help me!:thumbsup2 I decided to call MS one more time today and express to them that I think it's awful that the person that we referred keeps having to call to try to get this straightened out. I told them I didn't think it makes a good first impression on our new members. Luckily, the CM agreed. He looked in to it, and he was able to see where my friends did buy, and THEY DID list us as their referrals. He has no idea why nothing has been done nor why no one has ever contacted me like they were supposed to. He went through the notes on my account and saw where an email was sent to the lady that takes care of the rewards three times now (twice by a CM and once by my guide inquiring about this). He has no idea why she hasn't taken care of it because my friend closed the beginning of April.

So, he was emailing once again. He said if I haven't heard back by Tuesday to just keep calling because there is no reason it hasn't been taken care of. I guess sometimes persistence is the key.;) I'll let you know if the reward ever posts to our account. Thanks for all of your help!
