Not sure if Disney still does this or not, but years ago, when my brothers and I were kids, our parents would order a double cheeseburger and ask (and pay) for an extra bun. Do they still allow this? I don't even know if any counter service have double cheeseburgers. Trying to save as much as I can eating in the parks. This will be our first trip with our kids and paying for most of our food out of pocket. The last two times, we were lucky enough to have free dining. My kids are 9 & 8, and will be fine eating nuggets and burgers for the week. Lol!

This was quite the thing a few years ago. My recollection is sketchy but I believe disney stopped selling just the bun and they removed the double burger

it was a great budget stretcher

do know though you don’t have to buy a combo, you can buy just the one item w/o fries. We do this and I just have a few of dh fries. I don’t want a full order so it works for us.

You can order kids meals for the adults in your party at counter service.

Or skip the drink and get the free water instead.

At 8 and 9, my kids could have shared and adult CS meal with me. I also had lots of snacks in my purse/backpack that they would munch on throughout the day so we weren't stopping to buy snacks.

Have fun.

Thanks everyone! I figured it was a thing of the past. Lol! Great idea about ordering an adult meal for the kids to share!

I order from the kids menu at counter service most times. I do not have a huge appetite so this keeps the cost way down. I only drink water so I get a cup of ice water and the kids meal comes with 2 sides and a kids beverage. I now have a small bottle of water for the fridge or to drink in the park and usually a cookie later for dessert! I don’t do this for budget reasons, just to save room for snacks 😉. I think sharing an adult meal is a good option too if your kids don’t mind splitting but 2 kids meals might be cheaper if you are purchasing them beverages also.

I stayed at CBR last week, my friend and I ordered kids meals for breakfast each day at the food court.

We did split an adult meal at Trattoria, we got an appetizer (garlic bread), Chicken Parm entree, then each got gelato for dessert. We also each had an alcoholic beverage, our bill was around $88 with tip.

Basically, if there was a way to be budget-conscious Disney has eliminated it. I love the place but I can afford it. Walt would throw up if he saw the prices at this place.

Definitely look at getting adult meals and sharing. My daughter and I share most meals at Disney (well everywhere really) as the portions are usually so big. You can always supplement with an additional side if need be too.

Walt would look at his bank account going up and up and up. And he'd love it.
