Sharing Meals

My oldest daughter and wife usually share a meal when we are out at restaurants. I know at buffets and family style meals they will have to pay for a meal but at the other sit down restaurants such as Chefs de France allow meal splitting or do they charge a fee? If so how much?

I don't think any of the restaurants in the parks charge a fee and usually no questions asked.

I'm not sure about Disney Springs as most of those are 3rd party vendors and they MAY charge a fee.

Granddaughter and I share often, we have never been charged a fee. We've eaten at Disney Springs, and just explain that we would like to share. We do purchase an extra drink.

We have split meals at TS and QS places and never had any problems. As long as its not a buffet or family style meal you should be good.

If yu tell your server in advance the chef will sometimes split the meal for you in the kitchen.

Having had gastaric sleeve surgery and having lost 2/3rd's of my stomach, I often share a meal with my wife. Have never been questioned, especially if I explain why I cannot eat a whole dinner. Also will order an appetizer for dinner, or even the child's meal. Again, I explain why I have to order the child's meal and never am questioned. Actually WDW is the easiest place to do this sort of thing.

I saw some people do it at our table at Teppan Edo - the servers had no issue with it and they both still got big portions of food.

Karlrob, thank you for sharing your info. My wife and oldest daughter both had by pass surgery and have done amazingly well. Congratulations to you too as I I’ve watched their journey and it is tough but the results are awesome, hope yours went well too.

Has anyone split a meal at Cinderella's Royal Table? We took our oldest when she was 6 and it was WAY too much food for her. Now we're going again and our twins are 6. They always split a meal when we go out, so I would love for them to be able to split a meal here too. We haven't decided if we're doing the dining plan or not - if that makes a difference in your answer.

Absolutely cannot split a meal for CRT. You're paying for the experience, not the food. I mean, you can choose to eat half a meal, but you will be charged full price for everyone present, regardless of how much they eat.

Also, remember that on the DDP, CRT is 2TS credits for each person. Even if your twins only eat one meal between them, you will be charged 4TS credits for their meal. The DDP rarely saves money if you're buying OOP. If you are traveling with people who are not big eaters, the DDP is especially unlikely to be good value. It's a lot of food, and tends to only be worth it if you're doing a lot of expensive meals (character dining), drinking alcohol regularly, etc. The WDW menus are online. Pick out what you think your family would typically eat, and add up the prices. See if that is more or less than what you're paying with DDP. Everyone in the room has to be on the DDP, so you can't just buy a plan for one twin and split meals.

My daughter and I often split and have never had a fee or issues. We have not, however, done this at a buffet only restaurant (Biergarten comes to mind) or Cinderella's Table. Last visit to CRT, the server was super sweet and I took our pastries to go in a small box.

You cannot split meals at: character dining, all you care to eat, buffets, prixefix, dinner shows and Cinderella Castle.

My teenage daughter and I occasionally share meals at Disney and I just increase my tip percentage as if we had both ordered an entree to make it fair for my server. I just cant eat a big meal and walk around and ride rides...especially in the heat.
