DH and I are DVC members and have been to Disney many times on the DDP.
This will be the first year we bring my parents. This will also be their first trip to the property. We are all on the DDP, but we were thinking of each couple sharing a TS each day, so they could see more of the resturants. I'm feeling really guilty about sharing, but according to these boards...it is okay? :confused3

Each of us couples always share meals when we got out on a normal day, so this is not out of the ordinary for us.

I am really excited for them to see WDW. They will love it!

This is a hot topic on DIS. Don't let the DIS police get ya.

The only way people can share a TS is a so called "infant" who is under 3 years of age, can eat off your plate.

My ds was called an infant, and I about :rotfl2: Aren't infants little tiny babies?

CS is another story. I'm gonna get flamed.....but when one person is in line getting all the food while the other is in the bathroom or something, how is the check out person taking the order supposed to know who is eating off that plate?

We got away with sharing between the kids that one. SHHHHH!!!! I hope I live to see tomorrow..... popcorn:: :stir: :furious:

But we are all on the DDP... so it's not cheating. We are just chosing to use our credits slower then the average Joe, right?

I don't mind getting slamed on these boards. I need to know exactly how it will be when we get there, so we don't get in trouble. I would rather do the right thing, then cheat.

Usually we all order the high dollar drinks, but I have a bun in the oven now...so I wont be drinking. Everyone else will be.

If the 4 of you want to go to a table service restaurant and only order 2 meals (2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts), go right ahead. Of course you can't do this at a buffet, but at any other kind of table service restaurant it's no problem. They will take 2 TS credits off your plan. You can pay out of pocket for the extra drinks.

Now you can't share TS credits, as in there are 4 of you on the plan and you show up with 5 people and want to use credits. But shraing food is another story.

You can get away with sharing the counter service credits and use them slower.

However, at table services, the servers waiting on you will policing that. They take your card at the table and make the deductions off your plan.

It doesn't hurt to ask if you can share, and in some cases, a server will make some suggestions or adaptions. We did that in the case of our "infant", when we knew he would be hungrier/less hungry than normal.

Some places let you do that. I've heard DIS reports that there are some places that force you to use one TS credit for each person at the table. Like I said in the previous post, you just ask the server.

Alrighty, well... thanks for the advice. Was hoping for better news.

I guess the parents will need to join us again to see all the fun food joints.

Sounds like the best thing for us to do is just ask the server and hope for the best.

Does anyone know of a TS that has refused this in the past? (Other than the obious buffet and dinner shows)

Thanks for the replys!

It sounds like Disney is really starting to crack down on all the loopholes on the DDP, so you will probably run into trouble with sharing. Why don't you just add them to the plan and do it legitimately, or let them just pay for a couple of entrees? I'm sure nobody would say anything if you were sharing appetizers/desserts.

They are all on the plan. Unless it is a buffett or a set price per plate, I can't see why this would be a problem!!! It's not cheating, you payed for 4ATS a day and you would be eating 4TS a day...I don't see the issue, I guess some servers may give you flack, but I don't see the issue.

Thanks for the correction. I missed that they were all on the DDP. But if you look at another thread, they are no longer allowing children's credits to get adults portions, and they won't let you order more meals than have people for, to cut down on treating others.

I bet sharing isn't far behind.

I m aware of other threads but IMHO it doesn't apply to this question. The OP isn't trying to get anything extra out of the DDP, They paid for 4ts meals a day and thats what they would be eating. If they got extra drinks they would need to do those OOP, but their not trying to pull one over, just structure their day different than most. My DH and I often share at resturaunts at home, I guess I just don't see what the problem would be.

As long as you're not trying to use Dining Plan credits for people other than those on your reservation, and as long as you're not trying to use child meal entitlements for adult meals, you shouldn't have much problem with sharing on the Dining Plan.

I didn't think this was against the rules either. When we went in September, I just couldn't eat another full meal without bursting.

We had plans to meets friends at AP and my DH had never been there. Hubby ordered the yummy soup, and buffalo. I ordered my own soup (cash) and told the server we were going to share the buffalo. This was fine.

Sharing a meal, IMO, is fine unless there is something i missed in all the details. (It is just SO much food, especially after days of appy, entree and dessert)

It sounds like a great way to use your credits and try some new places.

As long as you are not at a buffet or character dining (plated meal) sharing is absolutely allowed. You are only charged the credits you actually use, so if therre are 4 of you, and only 2 of you order appetizer/entree/dessert then you are only using 2 sit down table service credits. Even if someone else at the table orders an additional appetizer or such--you would just pay for that additional appetizer out of your pocket, as well as any beverage they order. The server cannot FORCE you to use more credits at your meal than you wish to use. These are your credits to use as you please as they fall within the plan (i.e. not using a child credit for an adult meal or "paying" for 5 meals on a plan with only 4 people as an example)

Thanks for all the feedback!
These were the types of things I was thinking, but wanted to make sure I was on the right track.
I'm really looking forward to our trip. Now that I'm pregnate we will be taking it slower and spending more time doing non-ride activities.

Thanks again for the help!!
