sharing appetizers or desserts for two

I tried tacking this on to the end of another thread, but I guess it's really a separate topic, so I'll start a new thread...

Since my husband and I are both on the dining plan and would each be using one TS credit for our meals, would we be able to order one appetizer or dessert that is meant for two and share it? Or would there be no way for the restaurant to ring that up? We have an ADR for the Grand Floridian Cafe, and they have a chocolate fondue dessert that sounds heavenly :cloud9: The menu says "great to share", so it kind of sounds like that's meant to be for 2 people, especially since the price is fairly high for dessert -- this site says it's 9.99 -- so I assume it's a pretty large portion. But the menu at AllEars lists it at 6.99, so I don't know if that's a serving for one? And all of their other desserts are listed as "mini" desserts for 2.39.

And 6 of the 8 appetizers listed on the menu here for Raglan Road say "for 2 people", so if we can't share one large appetizer, that seriously limits our choices.

If we couldn't order one to share on the plan, can we request them to prepare two half-size portions for one? And then they could put both half portions on the same plate, we wouldn't care

When My wife and I went to Disney(Poly):) in December 2006, we shared many meals and just ask for two plates. They seemed incredibly accommodating. :goodvibes No problems just asked. Good Luck and have FUN!:thumbsup2

It depends on the restaurant. The plan doesn't explicitly include appetizers for two (and indeed implicitly excludes them) but that doesn't preclude each restaurant from making their own decision in that regard (and even varying that decision over time). I've read reports both ways (perhaps even from the same restaurants! :))

I'm not sure about my memory, but if I recall correctly, Raglan Road is one of the more consistently stringent restaurants. I'd plan on getting a "no" there. Don't be surprised if some of the non-Disney-owned restaurants dictate a specific appetizer or dessert, while still giving a choice of entree.

We went during free dining last year, and Le Cellier had removed their cheese plate (app or dessert for 2) from their menu entirely (I think it's back on now). Spoodles said "no" to ordering the dessert sampler, even ordering 1 for 2 credits.

But I've heard of people being able to order the fondue at GF, maybe even for just one person?

I'm afraid it all depends on the restaurant, day and server what you'll be allowed to do. Prepare yourself for the worst, and you might be pleasantly surprised once or twice, but at least you won't feel disappointed.

At Le Cellier last year we were able to order the Chef's Signature Dessert Plate $11.99 and it was meant for 2 people but we were able to order it and share it.
