Sharing Amazon Prime?

My BF and I each have our own Amazon Prime accounts from before we lived together. Now that we share the same household, we can share one Amazon Prime account. I would invite him to share mine (since I have the kindle registered to my account). We have a Roku box that we would have to sign into my account, and I know that he would only be able to use the shipping perks (any movie watching would have to be done signed into mine). None of that is an issue. But, my question is that we often shop for each other on amazon and use the prime for the shipping, so since we are sharing, will we be able to "see" what the other has been shopping for and bought?

Yes.
Our family shares my Prime membership. At Christmas, the family bought me my present from Amazon. They told me so I wouldn't look at the account or emails that came about the shipment. Since Amazon tracks what you browse it's also possible to see things they just considered.

I think only if you are looking for it though (like if you look under your order history). You would still have two separate amazon accounts and you wouldn't see his most shopped for items or anything.

My sister & I share a prime membership but not amazon accounts so she can't see my purchases and vice versa.

So how did you set this up? We each have an amazon account now. When I invite him to share, does he just log into his account to use it? Meaning it is linked?

I don't remember exactly how we did it but I added my son on my prime. He clicked through email they sent him and signed up. We both use it all time but his is totally separate. I don't see his orders and he doesn't see mine. hth

I'd love to know how you share a prime membership without sharing accounts as my parents share my membership and use it thru my account to purchase items for their business. I don't mind too much but when I log in I get a home page filled with recommendations for machine parts, tyvek suits and other lovely business related items when I all want recommendations for is books, movies and the occaisional video game. Plus all the receipts come to my e-mail address which I then have to forward on to my mom.

Go to Your Account. In the first box on the right there's a link to Manage Prime Membership. Roll down that screen to invite a household member- enter your parents' information and click invite. They accept the invitation and that's it. :)

I invited my MIL to "share" my Prime and I have no clue what she does with it. She tells me things but nothing shows up when I log into my Prime. I think she has her own log in and everything.

I had no idea you could share an account. That would make my life a lot easier as I usually order for my mom and then she pays me.

OP already said it, but just wanted to remind everyone that if you share Prime, the ONLY benefits that get shared are the shipping benefits. Only the primary account holder gets the kindle lending library perks and free streaming video perks.

So if you want to share streaming, say myself and husband, u could do the prime membership, link all household devices to it, and he could just log in to my acct from his iPad and stream a movie?

This is what we plan to do. Since I have an actual kindle (he has an ipad mini), we were going to keep mine to share. Then to stream a movie on the kindle, ipad, or roku we will log into my account.

DH and I share our Prime account, but we both have separate email addresses for each of our profiles. I have no idea what he orders and vice versa until it arrives on our doorstep 2 days later. However, if you have the money for purchases coming out of the same bank account, you'd both be able to see the purchases on your online banking webpage.

Prime costs 79 per year and you can add on up to 4 other people onto your account to share the prime shipping benefits. Only the main account that pays for prime would get the instant video and other benefits.

No need to give anyone your password or anything to your personal account, you just add their emails into your manage prime account page and it invites them to accept and voila they have the 2 day shipping benefits from prime.

I usually "give" prime to 4 of my other family members for christmas. $79 cost divided by 5 = $15 for my membership and $15 gift for each of those 4 family members on my account.

Yep, my husband laughs at the contents of "his" Kindle with four of us using his account for our Kindles - he has his Science Fiction, my Romance Novels and History, my daughters YA fiction and whatever we bully my son into reading.
